1000 mile range for 3er Series
My friend and colleague Christian Stampfer just drove a BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Edition from Munich to Hamburg and only used half a tank of fuel. This gives the car an effective range of almost 1000 miles (1600 km).

I haven't had any extended highway trips yet, but I've seen 350 miles on half a tank with some city driving thrown in, so I imagine I could squeeze about 800 miles out of a tank on a careful, long distance cruise. Not quite 1,000 but still impressive, I think, for a car that can run toe to toe with a lot of today's top sports cars!
The 320d leans more on the economy side, but even then it's still miles ahead of any hybrid in terms driving enjoyment. And it will at least match them in terms of fuel economy. |

I recently went from Boston to NYC and back on 1 tank of fuel. Approximately 430 miles round trip. I could've done more, but I was stuck in ridiculous traffic all the way down which impacted my range.

Probably so. At some point I will test this in the 335d.

I got 600 miles on a tank 2 weeks ago. 79 MPH. I measured by the fuel I put in plus the computer.

I made 500 miles to a tank in my 325xi once. This was before ethanol came into play, and at the speed limit on I-81 in Virginia. Since then, I'm lucky to see 400 on the interstate.

I'd think that I'd died and went to heaven if I ever saw "1000 mi" in the distance to empty display! That is impressive.
