Storing Wheels/Tyres over winter
Don't think I have seen this discussed but whats the thoughts and experiences of storing wheels and tyres over winter.I plan to change to a 17" winter set very soon and store my 19s in the garage. Worried that most garages can be a bit damp are they likely to deteriorate over time. Should they be wrapped in bin liners say or other options?
Remember years ago a set of 13" Superlite mini wheels, bought brand new, left in the garage for a year or so, came back to them all bubbled and in really bad shape, totally gutted. Can't imagine good quality genuine BMW wheels have the same issues but worth asking. |

I'd give them a good clean and put on some wheel wax to protect them from the damp.
Make sure you store them flat and not stood upright. |

I just polish and seal my 230s and leave them in the garage stacked flat one on top of the other. I've done it for two winters now and haven't had a problem.

The rubber will degrade. But not really Enough to worry about. I personally would try
protect em. Depends how big your house is. Do you have a green house or conservatory or something you could keep them in.

I store mine upright at the back of my garage. I guess stacked would be fine too as the sidewalls have to bear the load of a car anyway.
Haven't sealed mine yet but garage is heated to around 10-14 degrees so shouldn't have any issues. |

I think the compound the car tyres are made of they should be durable enough for a few months.
I have some tyres in a downstairs cupboard LOL.

Wheels in the conservatory Carl?????
Mine are stacked in the (unheated) garage after being fully washed and sealed.

Bought myself some wheel bags while I had the scooby.basically, material zip up bags with a handle(has a diagram of which wheel).
Meant for rallying,I suppose, but fit my staggered 18"s a treat! |

Alloy wheels are coated properly now they will be fine even if the garage is damp.
