Dude... if you're going to pay a special order fee; get the anthracite headliner and shadowline trim. For the "model designation deletion" all you need is a hair-dryer and dental floss.

I tried to order both 775 – Anthracite Roof Liner and 760 – High Gloss Shadow Line but they said it can't be ordered on a car for Canada due to Safety regulations.

I did manage to get 4AT – High Gloss Black Interior trim through special order ($400fee) so I thought that I could get the model designation covered under the same fee.......but they want to charge me another $400. My salesperson told me they'd do it for free at the dealer but I just thought it could be avoided altogether at the factory.

I didn't realize you could order 4AT. Does it look like what I have added in the attachment?

Also, does anyone know if this High Gloss Black is the same as Piano Black, or is it different?

So its $400 special order charge per item crazy!

Well, at least BMW Canada accomodates special order items.

One more question ... so you pay the $400 for the special order ... but do you also get charged any extra money for the actual trim? In theory, it should just be a "free replacement" since they are just using a different trim. And the $400 is added on for their inconvenience. Am I right?

the funny thing is that brushed aluminium is an extra charge (390 euro) in Europe on the 335i, and the piano black is standard, so you paid extra to have a cheaper trim...got to love BMW, they probably said OK because piano black trim is now standard on the convertible in Canada!

my dealer is removing the model designation during the PDI

Funny is too kind of a word.....ridiculous is more like it. To be honest it's just a way to get more money out of the buyer's pocket.....all options should be available when buying a car at this price.

Deleting the model designation is normally free. The dealer can do it for you at the delivery.

Talked to my dealer and if you want it your car without model designation you'll have to pay teh $400 special order fee.

My CA said he'll do it for free with a chisel and a hammer during PDI

Just do it yourself after taking delivery of the car. Simple. If your dealer promise they'd do it, then make sure you check that area for any dents/scratches during delivery of the car. Just in case they messed something up in the process.

Special order fee

If you are going to pay the special order fee, then order some other cool options too. The fee is for one or a hundred options, not once per option as you were led to believe.

Not sure if you're in Toronto or not; if so I will remove your badge for free in about 10 minutes if you're freaked out by it.
