I currently have a 18-200m and 35mm. I'm saving up for a 24-70mm f2.8

LOL, I just grabbed some towels to make that background, not exactly studio quality.

I've trimmed my collection quite a bit. Had a 100mm macro, 50mm 1.8, 24-70L, 10-22mm, 15mm fisheye, and a 100-400mm.

Right now I just have a 16-35L, 70-200L 2.8IS, 35/1.4L, and a 50/1.2L. The last lens in my kit will be the 85L.

I really love the primes.

Nikkor 50mm f/1.4
Nikkor 18-200mm VR
Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8
Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8

The TCs actually make the 70-200mm into a decent birding and wildlife lens. Here's a couple that I shot with my EF 70-200mm f/4L IS on my 7D with the 1.4x TC. With your f/2.8 you could use the 2xTC.

Anyone knows what the differences are between the II vs III extenders (1.4 and 2x)?? The difference in price is about $200 for the newer version.

There hasn't been a definitive comparison test yet. However, if you have Series II L-series lenses, then the Series III TC preserve more of the AF speed of the new lenses, according to Canon.

We're all hoping that the IQ of the 2.0x TC III will be superior to the prior version, but no one has demonstrated that yet.

dont mean to thread jack but just wondering if you canon users who have a good collection of diff zoom lenses can recommend one for me. I'm using a T1i with a 50mm prime, 17-55 2.8/IS EFS lense, and looking for one with more zoom. the 17-55 lense cost me a little over 1K new, so something in that range. Thanks

You've got a great start. A 70-200mm is the logical next step for me. It's great for portraits, some scenics, cars and some wildlife. I have the 70-200mm f/4L IS and use it with and without the 1.4x TC. It's very versatile and the IQ is through the roof.
