GT5 Tuning
Share your tuning here or post it up for constructive criticism (which is what I'll be doing).
I need some suggestions for my E92 M3. The setup is not very aggressive, but the car is not staying as planted as I would like around the Nurburgring. It did 7:16 around the ring with 2 huge mistakes but it was still very hard to control since they tail was always kicking out during BRAKING (even with a brake distribution of 7 front and 3 rear and lower in the rear than the front) and also going "air born" a bit too much to take high speed turns. I'll post my exact setup tonight but here is the video: Constructive criticism is welcomed as I am still a novice. Edit. Damn FB video isn't working. I'll upload it to youtube later or add me on FB. lol

He's all the way down to -20mm all around but yet the springs and dampers are no where near that mark in order to match his ride height. That pretty much allows no suspension travel and the car will be flying all over the track if you clip the apex. (I used to have a similar setup just to see how aggressive I could go) Maybe it's just me, but I keep it at a more "conservative" tune which allows the suspension to do it's job. With that tune for the '07 M3, he said he's at a 7:10, but I'm already at a 7:09 with my current setup.

I should have clarified, that is a link to user setups for many cars. it was not meant to be a direct response to your question. it's a good starting point for people that are setting up their cars.

So I got a slightly better tune going...enough to get me under 7:05 but when I went online to race, the car was driving like shit and sliding all over the place as if I had sport tires not soft slicks. The host left the aids on (although I only use TCS 1 and ABS 1) but it felt like everything was off, plus sport tires. Ever happen to you?

I've noticed when going into certain online rooms that change your driver aids, those settings will carry over to other races and single player as well, so remember to change them back.
OP, did you buy the front and rear spoilers from the GT Auto section? |

I'd also like to know some good settings for a Nascar on Daytona Speedway (top speed tune). With 893hp (after break-in and oil change), I've lowered the suspension 10 mm, lowered the spoilers all the way down, and increased the top speed to 245(ish). Not sure if I should mess with camber or toe or not... any suggestions?

i generally find that maxing out front downforce and fully decreasing rear downforce helps significantly on top speed tracks.

For Daytona I take a bit of downforce out of the front and back, but not too much. For the most part I leave it like it is and I definitely don't lower it. That track is pretty bumpy and they already scrape enough as it is.

This is what I used to have when it ran a 7:16 with 2 mistakes.
Now I increased the ride height by a few mm all around, brought the dampers (extension) to 5 and 6 and dampers (compression) to 5 and 4. I increased the anti-roll bar stiffness to 4 and 4. Did a test lap and the car ran a 7:09 with one small mistake. Without any mistakes, the car can probably do a 7:02 - 7:05 with this setup.

Yea I know it does that with the aids, but I made sure they were where I wanted them. I had the same experience again last night. It almost feels as if the car is on sport tires not slicks because everything from traction coming out of a corner to traction in the turn is effected. I suspect it could be something else though: the option for low grip on the sides of the track. I wasn't paying attention if that option was chosen by the host.

Mine only has the two pedals w/ tiny paddle shift buttons and a sequential stick shifter. I think they sell a DFGT Pro or something that comes with a clutch and an H-shifter. There are a few others that have something similar. Once mine wears out (I can feel the force feedback motor going already) one of those is on my list
