Key Memory not available???
Hey guys,
So check out this new notice that now appears on the final page at bmwusa.com if you build an E90. "Note: Advanced Vehicle & Key Memory and Programmable Daytime Running Lights are not available at this time." What the hell does this mean? Does it mean associating vehicle settings with the key fobs is gone? Is it a glitch that will be fixed on our cars? Is it not there at all for MY2006? What's going on? Who knows more about this? Any dealer or BMWNA contact to explain? |

By the way guys I've emailed BMW from the Contact Us page on the site for more clarification on this issue. But I don't expect to hear back from them until Monday.
Could any owners try this out and maybe tell us what's going on? |

Man i'm really upset about this. Maybe its a misprint and they meant functions that use the Comfort Access system which isn't available till September.
Cross your fingers. Nathan |

Ok, i just watched 'Smarter' and Advanced Key section, and it talks about the regular key memory features and Comfort Access, so i'm pretty sure they mean Comfort Access is unavailable.
in regards to the daylight running lamps, i know the angel eyes work, i tested it myself a week ago. Nathan |

Do people on the Lexus forums EVER have these kinds of problems?

This is really making me reconsider buying an E90 so early guys.
I will wait to hear back from BMWNA or a dealer for clarification on this bizarre comment before I proceed with my order. |

As I mentioned in my other thread (which is getting almost no replies ) I will be going to the dealer tomorrow afternoon.
So I will definitely be asking the guy there about it. Problem is, the salespeople are rarely as up to date on things as we are. |

Key Memory
I just took delivery yesterday my my SG/Terra/Al 330i (sans sp) and I believe the key memory works. I was playing in the garage last night and I changed some of the settlings - specifically 12/24 hour times. This morning I used the fob on my key ring and it was the 24 hour format. I tried the other fob and it was the correct 12 hour format.

Ok guys, Edrucker confirmed that the key memory works just fine, which is what I thought they were talking about (Comfort Access).
Can anyone confirm that you can get your day running lamps working? Nathan |

Man, you guys are making everyone nervous :-) RELAX !!! I drove the car on Monday for 350 miles. I had 2 keys. I played with them. All the settings were memorized. DON'T WORRY !!! The daylight running lights were a dealer programmed feature, on the E46. I think that BMWNA meant to say that this feature isn't part of the key memory, which may be true. When picking up the cars through ED, BMW doesn't program daylight running lights and auto door locks because, believe it or not, they are afraid of Americans suing them (since Americans sue for everything). They want Americans to sign a form, when the car arrives at the dealer, that ASKS the dealer to program a bunch of things. THAT'S IT.
That said -- Troy, the other 330i that joined me for the drive in Munich had iDrive and he could actually program several of these things in his car, which I couldn't. So if you have iDrive, you have more control of things you can do, w/o asking the dealer. If you don't have iDrive, you will have to go to the dealer. Hope this helps. ciao --- Ziv. |

So I received a response from BMWNA customer service regarding the message. Here is what they wrote back to me...
Quote:
1) Whether the fix is retrofittable. 2) If not, what do owners of cars with the missing features get in return. 3) What features are missing exactly? 4) If there is a mailing list or way to stay updated on the matter. I will post any more news I have as I get it. |
