it's so retarded, the refinery that was on fire belongs to Esso, why the hell is it affecting other gas companies? I don't get it

They had a fire at the Esso Refinery in Nanticoke as well. So other than Esso, Canadian Tire Gas Stations and some independent stations, Shell and PetroCanada are business as usual, except with a much higher gas price...

Esso is supplying gas on a rotating basis to their stations.

I drove past 5 Esso and 3 Petro-Canada stations tonight, all were out of gas, two Sunocos did have but only half the pumps were operational (good enough for me!), a tanker truck was just arriving at one of two Esso stations on Steeles and Woodbine/404 though so it seems they are getting resupplied a tiny bit at a time inbetween having to close.

Ack... the Petro-Can by my house rationed to 75L Friday night, which is very reasonable considering our tanks are only 60 But now they're empty. My Benz is 96L but it's in storage for the winter so thats ok

Imperial Oil suffered a refinery fire in December, and another one last week at a different facility, between that and CN Rail being on strike since Feb 9th it's been difficult for enough supply to be brought in.

About 96 cents/L for regular so about $1.08/L for premium, if you can even find any.

man, you toronto people shouldn't complain about 96cent/l for regular, in Vancouver, 99cent/L is considered a bargain for us, we've had as high as 1.24/L for regular in the summer...

We've had it good, even compared to Ottawa. Before this whole shortage thing, it's been hovering 70-80 cents for regular, and even went down to the 60's at one point. It's not so much the $1.10ish/L for premium right now though, it's the inability to even find gas. Imperial Oil said that their refinery won't be back in production until at least the middle of March. Hopefully now that the CN strike is over, it can help alleviate the supply issue somewhat.

WOW!!

i haven't seen 70-80, needless to say 60's in my recent memory...that would mean you guys spent 20% less money on gas than us, but like the cost of living in Vancouver is much higher compared to T.O

Well we probably spend at least 20% more time in traffic, so it makes up for it in the end
