I have an acne med product that I am planning on bringing to market within the next few months and am try to pick a name/domain.

I'd potentially like the name and domain name to match.

Here are the candidates:

1. DocAcne - DoctorAcne is already taken by some blogger
2. Clearitall - Or Clear It All
3. AcnePro - TheAcnePro.com is already taken
4. AcnaPro
5. AcnePatrol
6. Don't like any of them

If you choose #6 please feel free to give me some suggestions.

Honestly. If you want your product to be successful. I would strongly recommend letting someone with professional experience handle your marketing. Right now marketing companies are struggling because they have lost a ton of business as a result of the down turn. You can probably work out a nice deal with them. They would be able to tell you which name you should go with based on market research.

The off-topic section of a car forum will not provide you with the enough info to launch your product most effectively.

How about something like "Claritol." People don't like buying something with the ailment in the name. Would you rather walk up to the counter in CVS with "Abreva" or "Herpacil?"

Good points. However, the prices are still up there so my best bet would be to work with a FreeLancer. At the end of the day, there isn't much to choose from that has not already been done with acne/zits so paying a large sum of money for something like this would be out of the question.

Yes and No. There are products out there aka "AcneFree" that are extremely successful. Thanks for the input!

Inventor/Researcher. Had a few people test it with positive results.

Does something of this caliber need to be FDA approved or does it count as some sort of "nutritional supplement, does not cure or treat disease, all results are unproven, probably doesn't work, no refunds and shit" category?

Clinical trials are usually for pharmaceuticals. Get the feeling this is just some non-controlled stuff that anybody can buy/sell.

With stuff like that it comes down more to marketing.

So if all of this comes down to marketing... you may want to hire a firm and give them a percentage of the profits. It gives you a higher opportunity for success. People will probably stop buying once this happens to them.

I'm not really trying to bring this to the next level. If I get positive results then I will look into this further. At this point, I do not have funding to put tons of money into this.

Exactly. It is considered a nutritional supplement. I still have to speak with a few professionals about this. I am at an early stage of this project.

+1. Marketing and a great product. I know tons of people who have tried ProActiv and it did NOT work for them. They stopped using it. Their marketing is huge however and gets them new clients daily.

I've had people using this for more than 2 years without an side effects. However, I will consider partnering up with a marketing firm.

Having it for 2 years and no side affects doesnt mean anything, lots of different skin types out there, you need many people using it. Proactive works but you HAVE to stay on it or it will come back. Acne treatments are all BS imo, every brand is the same but you just have to find what works for your skin. I have the pills that have a 25% chance of making your skin dry and burn red, but havent taken them because i fear it will happen

So how long would you like me to test for before making it available to the public who WANT a solution to their problem?

Like I said to me all the products are the same, none are better than the other. The factors of how adamant people are about using it daily, and what type skin they have is all that matters. People with TERRIBLE acne should see a doctor, but just people with a small amount that want an over the counter solution just have to try out multiple and cant cheat and skip days using it.

People buying acne treatment dont research, they just go with the product they have seen the most advertising for, so unless your treatment is magical and has some ingredient tons of Scientists havent found, unless you promote correctly it will fail.

If I were you I would do some serious research into all ingredients, all possible side effects, and any possible side effects of a combination of these ingredients. I would try and get it out to as many people as possible as a few people for a long period of time says a lot less than a lot of people over a short time. Its your ass on the line if you get sued for any adverse effects.
