Recommend me some wine. Under 40$/bottle.
About to turn 21. I'd like to start drinking wine. Never had anything but cheap box wines. Lol. I've never liked cheap champagnes or really dry drinks. I've had more expensive champagnes like dom and the like. I can drink sour stuff that makes you pucker and I like sweet stuff.
Please recommend stuff i can go buy and find easily in stores, don't really want to order anything just yet. Thanks.

Wine is subjective.
Go to your local wine store, tell them your a newb, and ask them to recommend you a white and a red for under $20 a bottle. Drink them and then report back with your findings and see what they recommend from there. The only way to find what you like is to try many different ones. there are many great wines for low prices these days. There is no reason to be spending $50+ on bottle. Hell, I've found tons of great reds for under $15 a bottle. Plus, once you find something you like, you can go to a major distributer and usually buy lots for cheap. |

For reds I prefer Cabernets and Merlots. They're pretty beefy wines, though. A good way to try various wines is to eat at a restaurant which serves wine flights, which are usually three different but related wines. You might get a cabernet, a merlot, and a shiraz; or if whites, a Riesling, a sauvignon blanc, and a viognier. They're served in smaller glasses so you don't get smashed, but it's a great way to try different wines with a meal.

Also, invite bitches over to drink wine. Act like you know what your talking about. They'll be impressed that it came out of a bottle and not a box. Make sure you scrape the $9.99 price tag off before they get there. Have a wine opener. Have proper glassware. Prepare for vaginal attack.

I like reds.
My favorite red under $40 is Orin Swift -- The Prisoner $34.99 at BevMo -- http://www.bevmo.com/Shop/ProductDet...roductID=34680

Half of the fun of drinking wine is trying out different types and finding what you like...so just go to the grocery store or bevmo, buy a couple bottles of different varieties at $15ish (like cabernet savignon, pinot, or shiraz, whatever catches ur eye) and see what's what.....
JayKay's idea of inviting the biatches over is also solid |

At Bevmo they have wine tastings on the weekends (Mine does, check yours) It's a great place to drink different types of wines for $2...
Also, no need to spend that much on wine at all. Shit, Trader Joes has the $1.99/bottle of Charles Shaw and it's not bad... I'm in the same boat though, I recently just got really into wine maybe 3 months ago. I'm liking the reds over the whites, and different varieties in between. It really comes down to just trying different bottles until you find out what you are into most. I typically pay $5-$15 per bottle to test new wines. |

Try Rodney Strong wines. Excellent California vineyard with a very wide range of wines for every budget. I can't speak for their whites, but their reds are amazing. Sold pretty much anywhere and run from around $12 bottle and up.
I really like their '06 merlot. I am yet to meet a person who does not like it.

I think you meant to say "< $20 bottles don't get you laid." This wasn't an OP requirement. As far as the rest of your post, I have no idea what you're trying to say.

You show them any $10 bottle of 90+ point red and tell them its good and they will believe you. They will probably also have sex with you. Show them any bottle of 1.5L and they think you're just trying to get them drunk or you're just another drinking buddy |
