Installed Car-Cam and Navigation System.
Hi there,
In most case, BMW E90 320d M package doesn't included i-Drive on-board navigation system inside, but it is such a shame cos I bought almost 50 grand car and it hasn't at least $200 amount of navigation system in there? Anyway, so I decided to place personal navigation system inside. However, many of Korean drivers are placed there navigation system just like this... or... But it blocks my sight while I was driving on the road. So, I tried to install my navigation system little bit lower as much as I can. As a matter of fact, this job wasn't easy so much cos those navigation system and Car-cam needs a power-port but it also has power cable inevitably so it might be bugging me cos it is nasty and dirty to my eye. Therefore, I decided to open my car first. Let's open on my dash board first... Open on dash board wasn't easy. I almost broke my aluminum panel on it but luckily it wasn't happened. And I had to remove rubber cover on the door trim but it was totally nothing. And everyone knows that, E90 got some fuse information in the globe box so I used it. Thus, I put Car-Cam's power cable and navigation's power cable into the globe box and connected with empty fuse box. It will be powered on when my BMW is on ACC status. As you can see in the picture above, navigation's power cable should hang on that aluminum panel on it and it will be connected with navigation machine itself and fuse box soon. For having clean status (I hate to see power cable with mess...)I opened A pillar's airbag and put my Car-cam's power cable inside so you may see opened airbag cover on the top of this picture. As a result, my Car-cam has installed with no-visual power cable inside. I can't see any dirty and mess power cable and line in that status and my car-cam is working perfectly. My navigation is working 100% correctly. It takes satelite's GPS signal perfectly and my car doesn't showed up any error message. When I tried to do it, I was little bit scared cos I didn't have any experience to connect navigation and car-cam like that but it was comparatively easier than hit my boo's ass. Enjoy folks, I just want to share my experience and D.I.Y works with you guys at here. from Seoul, S.Korea. |

Looks great! But I can't figure out how you have the GPS mounted in the last picture? It doesn't look like it's attached to the windshield, so where is it attached to?

As you can see in the last picture, maybe you can find out long crack in the middle of dash board. I put some metal plate adapter into that crack and mount my GPS on it. In S.Korea, many producers are selling like that small metal mount adapter so I bought it $1 and put that in it. But BMW's crack is actually curved so I intentionally bent down my metal plate and put that in it. I don't know you understand or not. So I tried to draw some pictures for your better understanding. |

Did they not have anything bigger? Joking.
Looks pretty slick actually. Clean job. For a second I though the first pic was your car and though you were nuts.

CasperSYTFU// Yeah, I know what you wanna tell...
skiernan36// Absolutely, it is way better, haha. Brian135i// Thanks man. And are you a navy personnel? morfinx// Check my reply, bro. VWtoBMW// Thanks man but I'm not a nut, haha. gunsekun// How come? Ppl takes my GPS as stealing? jw95275// In the globe box, you can easily open fuse box without any tools. and maybe you can find out fuse box manual in there. I just connected my power cable into that fuse box with that manual. It shows fuse box's information with graphical information. |
