Think twice before renting U-HAUL

Almost everyday I see big orange U-HAUL trucks on highways and roads, but after watching these videos, i was shocked by just how poorly maintained those trucks actually are after watching the videos, the tests were conducted by CTV (Canadian Television) on a show called W5, which is sort of like news program and over the course of 2 years and 2 separate times trucks were deemed unsafe for the roads with no brakes, broken exhausts, suspension bits, etc

Watch the videos, the results are going to shock you and make you think twice about renting a U-HAUL truck

First tests in 2005:
http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNew...1022?hub=WFive

Second tests in 2006:
http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNew...1021?hub=WFive

The 2 times I rented a U-haul truck I guess I was lucky enough to get a newer truck. I never realized any problems that made me feel unsafe.

I used Uhaul to move my stuff a few years back. What was supposed to be a 800 mile - 1 day trip, turned into a 4 day trip with at least 4 break downs, eventually requiring me to unload everything onto a new truck to complete my move.

In the end, Uhaul had to pay for 3 nights of hotel logding, the truck was free, I got 3 months of free storage, and another $150 spending money (food, etc)!

I will NEVER use Uhaul again!!!

Did you actually think it was going to be earth-shattering information? The title of the thread alone should have warned you off if were seeking excitement.

What happened to Ryder? Didn't Budget trucks brought them out?

The only local truck rentals I can find is Budget rentals...otherwise the home depot $19.99 per hour truck.
Or Enterprises rentals pickup truck for like high 40's for the day...

I drove in one once and we sideswiped a bunch of trees on purpose. I was yelling at the driver that it wasn't funny but I was still laughing lol. It was right after the hurricane a couple years ago and everything was a mess and he was just beating the crap out of that thing. Poor truck lol.

i remember driving one a couple of years ago, and the only "good" thing about the whole truck was that it has A/C that actually worked pretty good, everything else was just dirty, smelly, ugly and just felt dangerous driving it

i rented a uhaul to help move an ex gf a few months back. they filled up the tank so they said and im driving along and the truck breaks down. turns out the fuel gauge was broken. then when i called from the side of the road - they blamed it on me saying i caused the problem and i had to pay over 300 dollars in towing and repairs. WTF!

i will never rent uhaul again - fuck them and fuck their company.
