If your happy with the exhaust note now, once you change over to catless Dps it will change the note for sure...Whether you like it afterwards is the questions...If you dont like the tone, just add in some resonators to fine tune it back to the way you want...

ok i can try to be more specific
i have a non-resonated rennart catback with ar design catless dps the catback really decides what the exhaust will sound like... if it has resonators, x-pipe, and what the mufflers are like. the catbacks out there are VERY different. some make it sound more deep and v8 like and others resonate at a higher pitch. i picked rennart because it retains the characteristics of the stock sound but is a whole lot more aggressive and loud. if there is any drone, it happens around 2000rpm after adding the dps my exhaust sounded alot more open and mechanical and gritty but didnt change the acoustic characteristics of the car. i was surprised how much sound gets muffled going through the cats but with this taken away the source of the sound is much more clear and loud, as if i had changed a stereo system and added a better amp and wires. more mechanical and more open means that i can hear the turbos spooling up more quickly and more loudly and i can hear the wastegates more. the car reverberated more deeply in the garage as well as the cabin, has a nice bark to it when i rev at a standstill. sounds alot more raspy under load (and i love it). more gurgle and more pop as i lift off the throttle. i think the drone happens around 2500 with the dps on. all in all i think it sounds amazing, probably the best combo ive heard in my opinion. I love the smell of it. Makes me think that I'm making up for all those ridiculous Priuses in the world. And please don't turn this into an environmentalist debate... Downpipes are a great first step on your exhaust adventure IMO; they add a great power gain while also adding a little bit of sound. But the sound is still very stock-like... just amplified. |

Cold start up - louder and you can smell it. Warm start up - load for a few seconds and then tame, smell half as much. Driving - cruising, quit, no drone, same as stock in my opinion. Floor it - Louder but in a good way, achieve speed and nice again. It is a perfect balance. I do not regret it at all. and I have had many exhaust systems and such on a lot of cars. |

All that's stated above ^^
And upon deceleration (in gear) an occasional "gurgle" may happen I for one love that sound.. I also noticed (in gear decel) if u SLIGHTLY have ur foot on the gas while decel the "gurgling" is much more frequent, and more audible.. A "like" in my opinion. sounds mean.
