Exhaust Choices
I've listened to hundreds of vids for various exhausts. The sound I want is a tamed growl like that of a G35 but with a tad bit more volume.
Correct me if I'm wrong but would the Remus and Bastuck exhausts do this? Or should I go with a Borla or magnaflow? My last option is do just a muffler delete with quad tips...I've heard a couple vids that sounded great. See this vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVQRRTdSvKg |

if you want tamed then yes, go with Bastuck or Borla single muffler. There is also a magnaflow single muffler as well but i forgot the part number.
Single mufflers give you the tamed sound you want, dont get dual mufflers. you might also want to delete your secondary cats or get downpipes instead. that will give you more growl.

The Remus US Sound Race Exhaust definitely will give your car a more throaty and the deep exhaust note you're looking for. Here are a few more videos for you to check out!

Get AR downpipes (catted), 2 vibrant performance resonators (delete secondary cats), and 2X Dimisia or Cyba Exhaust Tips. Optional: perform golf tee/module unplug.
Still factory, flows better, sounds aftermarket, nice throaty grumble.

muffler delete is the most economic choice, but the drone just stinks. i have had the muffler delete for about 2 years. its bareable, but i want to put the oem muffler back on.
turnermotorsports is offering 10% off all their borla products. i am considering picking up the single exhaust set up for $933. is there drone w/the borla single muffler set up? i yt'ed but couldn't find any good in cabin videos.

check the end of this video...it has inside car audio towards the end of the vid
i think i will be doing the muffler delete after all...my local exhaust shop told me they did a muffler delete on a 335i for the son of the manager of the BMW dealer in town....he said it sounded just like the vids i've posted and no drone....he uses stainless steel tube with magnaflow tips....quoted me $200 cash Quote:

haha thanks
Well since that video I have put catless DPs on so the car is a bit louder and does drone but I don't mind it and I have made the lady learn to deal with it. And honestly at low RPMs taking off it sounds like a diesel truck and I love it, up top its indescribable. The first video is the same set up just catless DPs and the 2nd video is of my car in a tunnel, FF to the end to hear the car.

OP it seems like you are looking for two entirely differnt routes.
1) you want something tame like a G35 exhaust. => provided that our I6 can never sound like a VQ you can still make your exhaust more aggressive with more growl by changing to aftermarket systems such as the bastuck, borla (these are on the quiet side of the aftermarket exhausts) 2) muffler delete. deleting your mufflers will unleash all the noise. it WILL drone and your neighbours will definitely hate you. yes it does sound nice in videos because it doesn't capture all the sound frequencies, particularly drone. I suppose you can add resonators when you delete your muffler to reduce the droning. bakeme521: nice plate! theres someone around my town with a E90 M3 that has a plate "STIG"
