Passing rev limiter

So today when I was driving (closed road) I turned off DTC and DSC and did 40mph pull, but when I hit redline it kept going. I dont know how this is possible, it went to 7500rpm. Car is now leaking water, no it is not transmission fluid, coolant, or oil. I have never heard of anything like this and it just doesn't make since to me. How is it even possible to pass a rev limiter? If someone can tell me whats going on that would be great.

Confused. What do you mean it is leaking water, but not coolant?

Its leaking water. Its not leaking coolant, some would assume that what I think is water is actually coolant.

You're right, that's the only possible explanation since water is not used as a fluid anywhere in the car. Nonetheless, I don't see how it could be related to exceeding the redline.

Yeah, but can the condenser really let out about 16oz of water?

Yeah, I don't see how it could be related either. It's just strange that it started right after that.

Do you have 6MT? Mechanical overrev? There's no way it exceeded the rev limiter if you didn't do a "money shift" downshift.

If a tune can change the speed limiter, what makes you think they can't do that with a rev limiter?

Its not related. It's just that you were looking for something because of the over rev.

Exactly. I was just paranoid, it has seemed to stop so it has to be the A/C.

i know on some honda's, if you pull the e-brake enough for the light to come on, it will disable the Rev and speed limiter. Also, maybe your tach is not accurate, My spedo is off by lik 6 MPH with stock wheels and tires.

I'm not sure that going 500RPM higher in one instance would do so much damage to your car.

I think OP is more worried about what happened. Are you sure you weren't near an M3 OP? Perhaps your car just got inspired for a moment haha
