Hack needed: How does one set permanent preferences for DSC/DTC?

That's not permanent. However, I would **REALLY** recommend against turning off DSC and DTC permanently.

Driver skill alone can never truly replace DSC in an emergency!

I mentioned in another thread recently that one of the things that annoys me is that switching from DSC to DTC is not persistent between starts. I find DSC to be WAY too interventionist. You try and have a little fun and it just shuts you right down (which I'm sure is a great safety feature for drivers who don't think about driving too much). Feels crappy to have it intervene all the time, though, and I'm sure it looks stupid as well. DTC gives you much more latitude to do a little sliding while still keeping you from getting too far out there.

Unfortunately I'm not aware of any way to keep it in DTC mode by default. I've just conditioned myself to turn DSC off whenever I start the car. Push the start button, push the DTC button immediately after. Starting the car is now a two button process. You get used to it after a while.

Guys please read the title! I'm not looking for opinions — just a "PERMANENT" solution to disable DSC or enable DTC so that it is not necessary to continually enable or disable the feature upon each start. I think the yellow light is an apparent enough reminder of what is happening with the car.

Also if anyone knows a hack to turn off the recurring chime that sounds when seatbelts are not worn please share...

DSC is too sensitive. DTC is about right.

Just solder a capacitor and a resistor in parallel to the DTC switch. The challenge is in finding an RC time constant that results in the necessary .25-.75s temporary closure of the contacts of the ISPST switch.

Disable DSC and turn off the seatbelt chime? I'm guessing you already found the DIY on how to remove the side and rear view mirrors.

Yeah, next post from this guy will be about which fuse shuts down the ABS and the airbags... ;-)

Coding will solve the seatbelt chime. i got mine disabled, i find it very annoying and will put my seat belt on eventually, i dont need an annoying chime to tell me. Plus it rings for about 4 minutes before it stops. The seat belt light still works so that light usually annoys me enough to put on my seatbelt

Double fail....

- Permanently disabling a safety system on your car (whether it's DSC or the Seatbelt warning) is dangerous by the very definition of the words safety and danger. As an extra nice d-bag bonus, depending on the specifics it also makes you civilly and potentially criminally liable in the event of an accident.

- Driving without a seatbelt IS indeed illegal everywhere except for New Hampshire.

P.S. As another poster pointed out, the stats do show that the majority of accidents happen very close to home. Depending on which insurer's research you believe, between 23% and 33% of accidents happen within a mile of home. That is why they need to know the address where your car is garaged before generating an accurate quote!

P.P.S. if you do disable either, NEVER EVER EVER let anyone else drive your car and pray you never get into an accident. Even a law-school dropout would take every penny you owned if an investigation discovered that you willfully disabled any safety system on the car.

Or you could just get the Procede and then you wouldn't need to worry about the tc interfering as much... or an LSD.

IMO, you can't control the car as well without it, and it should only be turned off when the environment is right
