Our brakes do squeak
Maybe oughta just eat the price of pads and replace the rears at 25k, with the sunroof season coming up. I was walking my dog and a neighbor rolls in in his 335i sedan, wow that thing is an LCI prolly 2k10 and I could hear it squeaking a 1/2 block away. So it's not just me....eeee eeee eeee eeee eeee eeee

do a quick search in the brake section. You'll see that it's a problem. Has something to do with the brake sensor I think. My 07 335 is doing it but I'm going to wait till it gets warmer to do something about it.

Not sure why and I wish I had known about the SIB....when I told my dealership they actually worked on the front brakes and not the rears....I believe the cure is to simply install new pads, but it's kind of a waste, my car has 25k and the CBS shows 40k left on the fronts!

It's normal for the brakes to squeak. My SA told me the best way to deal with it is either take a pressure washer to the calipers once in awhile or do a few panic stops from ~60mph once the squeaking becomes noticeable.

I have the same problem. And my brake pads and rotors were all changed out about 6 months ago. Might have to swap out to after market brake pads.

That's proof that the new parts only are a stop-gap measure, I mean I've only got 25k, my Nissan rears went 89k before I changed them, and never had any noise....usually, significant engineering goes into keeping brakes quiet. I saw a paper online written by GM engineers, if I recall it would describe a groan at xxx hz and what would be required to eliminate it, truly scientific....

I was just about to ask my dealer about this. My car sounds like a squealing hamster in stop and go traffic. So replacing pads or rotors won't fix this?

I solved this by pulling my pads, smearing "Disc Brake Quiet" on the back of the calipers. You can find it in any auto store for about 5 bucks.
look in the diy section for brake pad change. the diy was written by mr 5 i even had the squeaky wheel problem; from a dead stop to ~15-20 mph. the brake disc quiet fixed it all. ive got 3k miles since i applied this. so far so good the dealer had replaced all my pads and rotors. this only fixed it for about 5k miles. the disc brake quiet is the cure

They replaced my wear sensor and it worked for about 2k miles and then went right back to doing it. Just learned to deal with it now. It is embarrassing thought when your car has a certain sound to it and a very good look, and then when you pull off everyone watches you go ee ee ee ee ee.

Guys....squeaking brakes are generally easy to deal with. Unless of course it really is the sensor rubbing against the disc.
1. Occasional power stops and power spray the calipers help a lot. Glazing caused by constant stop and go moderate braking causes squeaks. A few power stops gets rid of this. Power spraying will also help eliminate the fine particles that get trapped between the disc and the pad. 2. EASY solution and it has worked on all my cars. Take the pads off and grind down the leading edge of the pads so that the leading edge of the pads is not at a 90 degree angle to the disc. A wedge shape will allow more of the metallic particles generated during braking to fall away. This allows the particles to fall away rather than get stuck under the disc. I did this to my e92 the second day I got it, (er, I had a shop do it for $5...love Taiwan labor costs!) and my car has never squeaked. I have a friend here with an e92 that squeaked like crazy. We ground the pads, and voila, the problem has gone away. Might lead to more brake dust, but that's what car washes are for! Squeaky brakes are not a manufacturer defect. They are caused by legislated changes in the materials that prevent the use of asbestos. So to create the necessary friction, brake pads have more metallic materials that create high frequencies under braking if they are not washed away/prevented from getting stuck under the pads. |

hmm..
Do anyone of you have a slight squeeking when accelerating from a dead stop.. happens to me every once in awhile and its VERY annoying.. I didnt know if it were the brake pads ( even though car is accelerating ) or if its something to do with the rusty hubs..

I have this same problem and starts squealing from 4-15 mph. My rears were replaced at 26000 mile and now I have 39000 miles and I am scheduled to have the fronts replaced in a week. Glad to know i am not alone. These are still under warranty and my SA told me about the braking form 60 mph but that did nothing! I did not have to fight with them last time and dont expect that I will this time either.
