UPS Screwed me? Help!
Hi guys
Help me understand what happened: The situation: -I sent my malfunctioning laptop to Toshiba, they repaired it, and then sent it back to me....supposedly -I check online and it says "delivered" and signed by "Gryle" (some other guys name) -I check my front door and there is a UPS notice on there, first check box under "deliver" is checked, and in the comments says "left at 59 <my street>" -I live at 77 <my street> -I went over to 59 <my street> old lady comes to the door, we talk for a minute and clearly she has no clue whats going on and there is no "Gryle" there Nothing makes sense as I never told Toshiba anything like I approve some guy named Gryle at 59 <my street> to sign for it. They will be calling me back at 8:00 am tommorow to try and resolve this. Any help/insight you guys with more experience and brains can provide me would be greatly appreciated. I just don't get it! Thanks everyone! |

I would contact UPS and get a detailed delivery summary. Then go to Toshiba with this info and put it on them if they sent it to the wrong place.
Otherwise you are usually screwed when people get your package if they don't own up to it. Your last resort after trying to get it back on your own would be to contact the local police to see if they can encourage the person who got your laptop to give it back. (If you can find out who it was)

Toshiba should have insurance on the package and UPS shouldn't deliver to other places but your house, unless specified, if signature is required.

It was stolen, someone signed for it on your behalf and told the delivery guy he was your neighbor and sign so he did not have to come back. You issue is with UPS, they guy should have never allow someone else to sign for it.

Yeah, seems like it was stolen. Hope everything was backed up. Good luck getting a resolution as well, seems like a UPS error to me.

If UPS left you the note and had your neighbor signed it, then toshiba probably ok'd an indirect signature. But it is usually done with the direction from the receiver (you). Nonetheless, you didn't sign for it and shouldn't be liable for a lost package.
