Thumbs up Stevens Creek BMW oil change - $89.95

Guys,

My car told me I was at the minimum oil level @ 4300 miles so I took it into Stevens Creek BMW on my way to work. I didn't have an appointment and asked them the price for a complete change + filter. The first SA said it was $89.95 and the second SA (who actually filled out the rest of the form) said it's usually $140 but they have a coupon to make it $89.95. He asked me if I had the coupon and I said I didn't, just that the other guy told me it was $89.95. He said, well if you know the price, then we'll just say you had the coupon...:rocks:

I went into the parts department and the price for 7qts + filter was already $82, so $7 for them to change my oil is a great price!

mm... next time i'll have to talk about coupons... but yeah 140 is regular... most mechanics will recommend you do it yourself if its not the "right time" as in its not your yearly free or your first/second/etc service time cause they know how much BMW overcharges... but rules are rules.

Let's see...
7 quarts of mobile1 0w40 is $42
filter from the parts department was $15.xx
plus tax in fremont - $58 x 1.0875 = $63.08
(sj is $62.93)

So labor was like. $17... and you got to sit in the service area and chat online instead of getting dirty under your car. Was it worth it?

Just giving you a hard time timmah. I haven't been on these forums in a long ass time. I got a coupon in the mail yesterday for Fremont BMW... I think they send them out periodically.

that's a good price for an oil change, but i hate that dealership.

last time i got an oil filter at stevens creek it was $20 (was only $12 a year ago when i got one) and a time before that i inquired how much the oil was, and the guy tells me $10 a quart!

i purchased the oil filter though because i needed it.

i just recently bought two oil filters at crownbmw.com for $7 each. with shipping, the total came out to $21, which is about $10.50 each.

mobil1 0-40 is about $6 each. 7 quarts with tax is about $45.50.

10.50+45.50= $56. that's my future diy oil change price.

only scheduled maintenance is free

dealer would have topped off/added oil for the OP at no charge, but an unscheduled oil change has to be paid for.

I'm surprised you haven't been flamed for the wash yet...

BTW, I bought a quart at Sonnen before it and like $8.69 w/tax.

About 2-mths ago, I bought a quart from BMWSF and it was only like $5.89+tax. I'm buying my oil from BMWSF from now and it helps that they have a couple of hotties working the Parts Counter/Cashier.

I bought my oil from Sterling, it was less than $5 a quart before tax. He brought out a box of 12 and I was like, I'll just buy the box, they charged me for only 10 bottles. Not sure if you can get this discount, but I bought my car there so they kicked it down a little bit.
