What are the differences between the stereo in the 2007 vs. the HiFi now?

I'm sure it's been posted, but I tried a couple searches without finding anything. Just wondering what the differences are in the stereo between a 2007 335 and the HiFi you get now.
I'm wondering if I could put the wife's 335 stereo in the M3 when we get rid of it. It does sound better than the HiFi I have.

Thanks.

I could be wrong but I remember reading a post (I think by technic) saying the latest HiFi systems do not have amps located in back left of the trunk area. I'm not sure about speaker setup though.

Since 09/10, the e90 (not sure about the other 3ers) gets the "hifi" option as the default system, with tweeters in the front door sails and an amp (with balanced inputs) in the trunk. I think also 8" under the seats instead of 6.5".

I think that might be backwards. I've seen a 2006 330i logic 7 with 8" woofers under the seats and a 2008 328i hifi with 8" woofers under the seats.

Current HiFi has same amp as 2007, but I believe it only has 8 speakers vs. 10 in the 2007. Some of the speakers may also be smaller. Still, then current HiFi is way better than the crap unit they swapped in for much of the '10 MY.

I'm confused now. I thought my 2007 335 had a Logic7 stereo?

Anyone know if the speakers are amps are the same? Can I just change out the center channel between the two cars? Will the HiFi in a 2008 M3 have an extra channel on the amp to drive it and will it drive it properly?

Thanks for the info so far, especially the PDF.

2007 E90 335i = Logic7 (Top HiFi) system standard = OEM digital amp, 9-channels, 420W, 13 speakers

2008 E92 M3 = HiFi standard = OEM analog amp, 6-channels, 180W, 10 speakers

You cannot replace one with the other without coding and a new OEM audio harness.

Damn...
Thanks for the answer Technic.
Do you know what I can do to to get an iPOD attached for the 2008 M3 then? Since it's analog, do I still need a MONObridge or will it work with the cheaper DICE?

You asked about Hi Fi does not = L7

L7 was standard in the 330 and some 335's for awhile .

From what I read the standard Dice module is not compatible with the e90.
