eBay has a NEW angle to get more money from sellers

I need to rant about this, ,

I see on April 19th eBay is changing the way you list your items. Your auctions and the Buy/Now feature will now be no charge. But wait, they will lose money right, wrong again. They now plan to add your shipping costs to the final value fee which means they will now make MORE money from their already exorbitant rates currently in place. On some items sold on eBay the final value fee with the PayPal fees can run up to 25% of the value of the item you sold. Is it just me or is it time for people to walk away from this site.

Their fees are ridiculous, as well as PayPal's. They charge for a credit card fee which is okay since they have to pay it, but they charge it as well even if the money is already in their account or from a bank. Faggots.

It might deter some of the US sellers but not Chinese. How else would they sell their crap? Sorry meant to say "quality retail goods made in China."

Then you have to make up for the cost in the price of the item, which would do nothing for you.

I wonder how they will get the "calculated based on buyer location" shipping cost.

The is essentually an "FYI" to people that your being had by eBay & Co. Any listing angle they come up with only makes them more money, were not getting any deal here.

I completely stopped selling shit on eBay because of their ridiculous fees.
You get charged twice for selling the same item. Once by eBay and once by PayPal, even though they are the same company right now.

I also noticed that alot of items on eBay cost more than they do in the store! I guess ignorant people are everywhere...

That said, I had to use eBay twice in January to buy angel eyes and black grilles for my X3, because I could not find either though the usual channels.

What they SHOULD have done is instead of blatantly placing a free value fee on all shipping, enforce the rule that it applies only to cases where shipping is over 50% of the total cost.

They're doing this largely because many offer a $1 BIN and $X (however much the item costs) as a shipping charge to avoid eBay fees on the final payment.

I've been selling on eBay for a long time and whenever I get the chance, I'll either complete the transaction outside of eBay to avoid the fee, or change the listing category just before an interested buyer buys it to pay the lowest possible final value fee.

What pisses me off most is that paypal charges a fee on all payments received, eBay charges a final value fee on all items yet IT'S ONE COMPANY

I noticed the same thing, people bid on used items up to and sometimes surpassing retail, so funny. Quite a number of sellers are listing items from their stores with Buy/Now. I mean really, it seems that ebay is really no longer an auction site. Hard to find a good deal anymore unless you look hard.

I don't ebay but i want to figure this out...can you give me an example of how this will work?

For instance say ur item is $100 and shipping is $20 ...how does the "final value fee" and the "paypal fee" work after that?

God thats right, closing a loop hole is also one of the reasons why they are doing this. WOW, getting sellers from both ends, get ready to pay a whole lot more.

Before you would sell your item and eBay would charge a Final Value fee, generally 2.5% of the total value of the item.

The new process will now add your shipping cost to to the Funal Value so you will now be paying 2.5% on those costs as well.

Shipping cost were always excluded from the Final Vaue. Some sellers, as mentioned above, would sell and item for $1 but shipping would be 50 or 100 times more than what the item sold for. Thats how sellers made & saved money.

Cash grab is all this is.

I had a crazy experience with Ebay when I ran a business through them. Almost sued them in small claims court. Maybe I will write up my experience sometime

So the total of the auction is 120, say the fees are 10%. $12 in fees paid through ebay. Then that 120 is charged fees again when it goes into your paypal @ 2.9% say $3.50. So on an item that is worth $100 you you pay $15.50 in fees. So more like 15.5% in fees

*In actuality the Ebay Final Value Fee is most likely higher than 10%

Ebay is garbage. I went to go sell a $400 phone on there a while back, saw all the fucking fees they were trying to bend me over with, and then I told them to suck a dick and fuck off.

Sold it on Craigslist.
