Review & Dyno - GIAC Stage 2 with "tweaked" maps, different downpipes, fully catles

So I needed to reflash my GIAC S2 maps because the dealer has erased my flash. But since I have noticed some timing pull in the logs earlier (also reported by others), I asked GIAC if something could be done about it. Our fuel is of low quality and I asked GIAC if I could have a flash which works well with 95RON (91 US) fuel. Tom @ eas told me that GIAC "tweaked" my maps such that it would work with 95RON with no timing pull.

In the mean time, I have also replaced my OEM catless downpipes with 3" Macht Schnell coated downpipes (quality and fitment is great, btw) and I have replaced my secondary cats with Vibrant 1792 resonators (made a world of a difference).

From the logs I gathered until now, there is no timing pull whatsoever. I noticed that in 3rd and 4th gear, the timing starts about 2 degrees lower than before, but ramps up to the same 11 degrees at the top.

The new maps are annoyingly smooth Smoother than before. 2nd gear definitely pulls harder, 3rd gear seems to pull lower in the midrange and 4rd gear seems to pull the same or harder.

Today I have dynoed my car and I got 3whp lower power despite the fact that I have removed the secondary cats and I installed larger downpipes. 331whp vs. 334whp (Mustang dyno, corrected values). However, at higher RPMs the car pulls noticeably harder, and it shows on the graph (the graph is below).

By the way, I highly recommend EAS if you need to send your ECU for GIAC reflashing. They are located very close to GIAC headquarters and they communicate very closely. They are also very responsive to PMs, etc. Couldn't ask for better.

Looks very good!

I still have an issue with the race map but hope to get that sorted during the spring. But the S2 flash is very very good and a pleasure to drive.

What issue do you have with the Race map, if you don't mind ? I didn't switch to the race map until now because I'm struggling to install my meth kit.

There seem to be timing dropouts, as the car stutters when accelerating on WOT. It does not do that with the pump map. I haven't yet had the time to do proper datalogging though, so I cannot exclude that the meth system is at fault (although it should not be).

I hope to be able to troubleshoot that in the next few weeks!

Just out of curiosity, why don't your torque and power intersect at 5280rpm's??? Is it because of the units used to measure the output not being lb•ft and hp???

It looks like they have the x-axis and y-axis scaling for WTQ and WHP set up differently from one-another. The RPM scaling (x-axis) is probably different for WTQ and WHP, but only one scaling value is shown (looks like RPM for WTQ). It also looks like the torque values are stated as N-m vs. ft-lbs like we're used to on this side of the pond.

So, with GIAC stage 2 you still need O2 sims correct? I am looking to get this with some catless DP's, probably MS coated. I will be ordering this week and just finishing up my research. I already have the MS stage 1 intake and AMS FMIC... and just ordered the Synapse BOV kit.

Cheers

Yikes, doesn't anyone else think the torque curve looks bad? Very mountainy with a sharp peak ^

That's because the torque axis does not start from 0 but from 342Nm...

So long as your meth system is working properly, the race mode should as smooth as the pump mode. If it is not installed/functioning properly (or the octane is insufficient due to improper nozzle sizing), the DME will retard multiple variables in an effort to keep everything safe (which it seems to be doing effectively in your case).
