What extended warranties do you guys have?
Fellas,
I got a quote in the US: a 2008 3-series with currently 45,000 miles (72,000 kms) on the odometer will be charged USD 4300 for a 4yr/48,000miles (76800 kms). This is with $100 deductible per incident. The warranty is good in Canada, on Canada registered vehicles as long as the dealership accepts it. What do you guys have in terms of your extended warranties? |

I didn't buy jack sh*t. Not a fan of extended warranties.

My car is a CPO which runs out Aug of this year, problem with it is that it doesn't cover about a dozen issues I'd love to have addressed. My car was bought with 81000 on it, 1000kms past factory warranty and ALL the issues present today were present then, so go over the car with a careful eye before that warranty is up. Other than that, I'm with MOAB.

no. I keep reading there is now a long term warranty on the HPFP and apart from that, I have had no problems with the car. If I didn't think I could afford to maintain the car after the warranty expired, I wouldn't have bought the car in the first place. That's the problem with lots of people - they can barely afford their cars.

The cars are affordable but when insurance gets added on and gas, you don't want frequent repairs on top either, right? |

I can only go by my last BMW, which was an E46 330ci. I owned it from 2001until I bought my present car in 2007. Frankly, I don't recall what the repairs were for the period that the car was without warranty, but there were no big ticket items and it was definitely not in the thousands. Again, if you are going to own the car long term, you have to budget in the cost of repairs.

I was gonna make a thread about this too. Good thing you already made one.
My car 09 328xi is at 75k at the moment, so ill be off warranty soon. I was thinking of getting this coverageone extended warranty for another 80,000 kms, but now that I think about it, it would be waste of money (especially for a non turbo). It costs $3000 for me as of now with $200 deductible. It does not cover the service appointment charges. Only thing it would do for me is probably raise the resale value of my car. But then again I would think that people in market to buy a car would prefer a car with CPO's extended warranty which is different and better than coverageone. |

i think the extended warranty is a personal preference really. for me its peace of mind to have because if something major breaks then i know i'm covered. my dad has a e46 with 200K+ and the only really major repair he had to do on it was the oil filter gasket leak, but he drives it normally, keep in mind as modding our cars there is no guarantee that nothing will break during our aggressive/spirited driving. i think if your going to heavily mod the car then ditch the extended warranty and if your just doing light mods like FBO i think it be good to get the warranty. just my .02.
