Is The Dealer Gonna Screw Me????

Wassup brothas and sistas, I've heard of the rumours that the dme programming that the dealer uses robs you of a lot of horsepower, does anybody have ACTUAL PROOF????? I am going in for hpfp and dme on April 7th and i would like to know if I am going to end up getting screwed. If anybody has any useful info it would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if it does rob you of horsepower would installing a jb3/4 still give you the same gains they projected???

Thank you

P.s. i have used the search but found only hearsay, so if your gonna tell me to search, piss off

Yeah, BMW and its dealers are screwing their customers who buy expensive cars by installing a fix for a known issue. People are losing anywhere from 100 to 200hp, but if you buy an aftermarket flux capacitor, it should restore your power.

Now "piss off" yourself and do a little reading.

I think u need to re vamp your outlook on this board....HPFP is under warranty idk how you'd get screwed and based off your grammar and terminology I think you will have a problem at the dealer. Your outlook in life seems to be an angry one.

Come on guys, he is just trying to get some information.

but i do agree with roundel335, an aftermarket flux capacitor will do wonders in terms of hp gain.

Hilarious thread thus far.

To answer the OPs question though... the fix will not rob you of your HP. It will adjust certain aspects of the cars acceleration though and will also reset anything the DME has "learned" about your driving habits. So basically, you should expect the car to feel different once you get it back. Be your own judge and report back (in this same thread, not a new thread ) once you get your car back.

I can speak to my recently returned '08... the car felt sluggish at first but got its spirit back after some time with me.

OP:
"aftermarket flux capacitor" --- LOL.. they are just mess'en with ya. If your that concerned about losing 100 to 200 hp, then take your car in to a Toyota dealership. Toyota has created new software for the 335i that will actually increase your hp by about 20 at the rear wheels.

LOLOLOLOL. people always gotta cry about stuff that doesnt even really affect them.

Syncro, the "DME" will monitor your driving habits and adjust itself accordingly, you have nothing to worry about.

Sack up chaps and stop crying, the man is just being straight forward because we all know theyre are losers that just say "use the search" for every post. "musclezmarina" and "sixshotespreso" prove that point. losers

Some, not all, and that is Canadians, the other spelling is used ONLY in Quebec.

I have to admit though, Syncro is coming across as a bit of an ASS@&%*

i suggest you check your sources for the software to deliver 20 hp gain at the rear wheel. OP's 3 series being a RWD, the toyota software will increase the front wheel hp and not the rear wheels.

if i was in the OP's position, i would still go w/ the aftermarket flux capacitor route. Below is the one i got from ebay.

Are those hp gains with AFC based on the butt-o-meter or do you have any before and after dyno runs for comparison? If you recall, the OP wants "ACTUAL PROOF".

BTW, you are correct about toyota, the hp gains are at the front wheels.

Is the dealer gonna screw me? Was that the question?

lol... there are very entertaining posts on this.

if you only NOT have put "piss off"...

but anyways, trying to be a nice guy here and post my personal experience...

I had the exact same things done to my car as mandatory update (software, HPFP, Fuel injectors) and yes they do feel different.

first of all, i have posted this, the exhaust is definitely louder and have more bass. that is absolutely certain.

second, the accelaration is more LINEAR. meaning more constant. I have not done a full blown 0-60 but it does feel faster over all WHEN PUSHED. there is more mid range push and less lower end. if driven gently, it feels the lower end is softer than before, not a bad thing. it jumped before off the line, i have less of that. not complaining.

third, i have not timed it, but accelator (or gas pedal) is more responsive. it means two things. I press the pedal and car hesistates less (we are talking micro seconds, based on FEEL.) secondly, seems like greater throttle with less push - I dont have to press as much to get more oomph. i dont know why that is, but it definitely feels that way.. so it is FEEL.

so far, i do not have any complaints. mine was a low miled CPO car and now it feels better. thats my overall personal evaluation... so no, i dont think you are going to be screwed. hope your upgrade comes out as well as mine!
