$8-900 gets you a Cobb AP and 6-700 gets you an ets fmic. Done. Enjoy.

alllright, the 335i factory numbers are heavily curved by bmw as it is. these cars consistently showed to make more like 315-320 bhp as opposed to the claimed 300. just a tune alone (popular ones being vishnu procede, jb4, then you have your all around ECU flash by companies like dinan, giac, cobb) can add approx. 100 hp to these cars. a tune, running with lets say 13.5-14.5 psi puts you around 340~350 rwhp. as you modify further, aka add intakes, downpipes, upgraded IC, etc, you can safely push more and more boost as you ease the airflow feeding the turbos. the car is ultimately VERY mod friendly OK?!

I was looking at the dyno charts for jb4 only, but most people have a ton of other mods. Makes me think twice about the chip only mod. Most people did post up their bhp, which was average 280.

I thought options were either a cpu flash "or" a chip tune? not both

Its one or the other not both!
Either a flash or a piggyback("chip")

ya, this platform has piggyback tunes available. (i like em). Open up your ecu and plug up their connectors and harnesses to your stock ecu's harnesses. you can then control all of the functions from the steering wheel features or DTC button or cruise stalk bla bla, its very convenient. A flash just reprograms the ECU all together like Giac for example. you cant play around and gadget all the bullshit like you can with a piggyback and adjust boost target levels and all that but you have a flashloader device usually with modes like valet, stock, maybe a race fuel map, and then the Giac tune with your new power lol. welllllll thats how my giac tune was with my 1.8t so ya, i assume it similar.

I dont want to spend too much money because the car would be leased.

You just need a nice tune and upgraded Ic for consistent power.
Search to find which one suits best your needs.
Flash: giac or cobb
Piggy: procede v5 is the most complete and advanced IMHO.

Is the "upgraded ic" an aftermarket intercooler?

If you are talking about a lease will I am assuming it will be a 2011? If so, it is the n55 which has less tuning options (no giac or Cobb yet) and will take a bit more mods to get 350 to the wheels.

Either way, go with a tune. And pick up an intercooler that does not require any cutting.
