My new exhaust tip, bye bye droopy

After seriously regretting selling the exhaust tip I'd bought from Cyba I decided it was time to do something about the disgraceful droopy dangler that some idiot at BMW saw fit to stick on the back of most 318 and 320d's. I took a chance visit to a place not far from work and after a wee chat they supplied and fitted the following.

I think the guy at the exhaust place summed it up perfectly when he described the stock tailpipe as looking like a horses hoof.

And yes, the car is disgustingly filthy and with rain forecast for the next week I dare say it will stay like that.

How much did this set you back? Anyone know of this would be classed as a exhaust mod for insurance purposes? I.e. Would it put my premium up?

Can't see how this would affect insurance as it ranks at about the same level as putting different bulbs in the lights in my opinion. Still, I dare say if i called them they would charge me something for it. Which is why I'm not going to.

Walesy. Got it done at CC custom exhausts in Hillington Industrial estate. They also supply and fit DPF removal pipes or down pipes that replace the primary cat on non DPF 318s and 320s. The quality of the work is amazing they were doing a 330d at the same time as my car and you should have seen the grin on the owners face when he came back from the first drive with the new pipe and a remap. They share a workshop with a reputable mapper and work together doing the pipes/exhaust plus map. They're a good bunch of guys unlike some of the other I spoke to when seeing about this work.

A tip wouldnt be classed as a modification for insurance purposes, or a backbox, only a full performance exhaust from top to bottom would be.

I'm not so sure an insurer wouldn't call this a modification, to the knowledgeable people it makes the car seem like a 6 cylinder therefore faster therefore more attractive to steal.

Not that I would consider mentioning it to an insurer but wanted to counter the post above where he stated an insurer would only consider a full exhaust swap a mod. They def consider replacing a rear box as a mod.
