Why no full exhaust for 328?
Hi all,
I just got my 07 328i coupe not too long ago (used of course), so I am new to BMW modding. I did do some searches but I can't find all the answers I need. Previously, I drove a VW GTI with 1.8T engine, getting a downpipe + catback exhaust = turboback/full exhaust, which is the best option for modding exahust However, I found no full exhaust system for 328i, and no downpipe mods, etc. All I found are "muffler systems" (for ex. the Remus powersound: http://www.bavauto.com/se1.asp?dept_id=204#top ) Am I looking at the wrong direction? I also found people recommending deleting the RS, not sure what that is, please explain? Thanks! Vincent Last edited by Vin_ZNT; 04-11-2011 at 10:56 PM.. |

well we don't have downpipes, but we do have complete systems such at the bmw performance exhaust or the MMW exhaust setup which is basically straight piping from the headers to the muffler. Eisenmann also offers complete systems but they are on the expensive side. There are full systems out there you just have to look.

I think if I remember correctly Meisterschaft's muffler for the 328 is nearly $2000 not including the mid pipes.
You want full exhaust sans headers? Delete the secondary cats, resonator, and replace the muffler with a different one like the MMW CS Version 2. That'll give you an emissions passing setup while still gaining power and making children cry.

Well, if you want noise, grab the BMW Performance Exhaust and Intake (why not grab it from Tischer for the sake of saving money) and do a cat delete.
<-- sounds pretty nice no? *Disclaimer: I didn't do this, I'm copying the video link from another guy's thread. |

Our cars have primary catalytic converters built into the stock manifolds, follow by a set of secondary catalytic converters which are completely unnecessary, follow by a resonator that muffles some sound and reduces harmonic vibration in the car, and lastly followed by the muffler. Biggest sound reducer of all of those is the muffler. Doing the 2ndcat and res delete isn't gonna make a massively noticeable difference in sound. The muffler is the key.

I have touring, and its plenty loud with mid pipes Titanium is insane though at 2k for the muffler Muffler new is ~$1000+shipping midpipes are ~$900 To OP, there are full exhaust systems, but they are very expensive. I got one hell of a deal on mine, or I was about to cheap out and do a muffler delete

I forgot to mention, I am looking at HP gain too aside from sound, that's the reason why I asked about the downpipe+Cat Does changing the muffler and deleting 2nd cat+RS do anything for the HP? Thanks! |

You are really not going to get any hp from any kind exhaust for our car. Most would be 3-5 hp. The exhaust will flow more freely but the secondary cats and resonator primarily only help the sound. Your best bet is to find which exhaust sounds the best to you
