X1 driven
Bugger - meant to put in off topic (mods?)
Had one on loan for a couple of days and 250 miles (mine just had a replacement vanos solenoid) so thought I'd do a mini review. Spec - S-Drive 2.0d with a few options inc leather. 17" runflats. Good stuff - 44 mpg , good combo of ride (relative to mine), steering and handling, quick enough. Erm, thats it. Didnt like - stop/start - too much vibration through the cabin, 'notchy' gearchange, 'grabby' clutch. SE seats lack side support. So who/why would this be bought by anyone (£30k ish) . You'll still get stuck in the snow, not many goodies as standard, dont get a high up driving position, slighty bigger than a 3, dont even get the split rear window like an e91, only 5 seats. Looks wise, its a bit marmite, i dont really mind them myself. Overall, it really is hard to work out who will buy one. Last edited by pjs; 04-16-2011 at 02:41 PM.. Reason: should be in off topic |

Drove a hire car X1 last week - pleasantly suprised: interior materials (plastics) not as nice as in a 3-series but OK. Higher driving position nice. Driving seat a good place to be - and don't have to look at ugly exterior. For a Mum on a school run it would be OK.
