Quick Body Part Question

Stupid question for everyone. I know the M3 has a wider wheel well for a more aggressive offset wheel, but I was wondering if the diameter of the wheel wells are the same as our 335i's. In other words, is the diameter of the wheel well from front to back, the same dimensions in the M as our non-Ms. Thanks! Hopefully not a lot of speculation will be posted. I am just pondering the thought of running 20"s for the street, but would not want to downsize to a 275/25-20. I would want to run the same series, but different diameter, a la 275/30-20. I know it would throw off calibration of miles and change the speedo reading, but what the heck, 20"s are baller, haha. Thanks in advance.

What does the M3 wheel well have to do with your car? Either you can run the wheels you want or you can't. To answer your question they should be the same.

If you're thinking that you can run a M3 diamiter tire on a 3 series, the answer is that you can, but you won't be able to run the tires you just listed. Which is why you should have just asked if you can run those tires not if the fender diamiter is the same. The tires tuck into the car as it squats down (increase in camber) to clear the outside of the fender and the geometry won't work out if you increase the height of the tire, and I know for a fact the geometry won't work with the tire you listed.

You'd have to go with 255/30/20 tires.

I know about camber and what not, but the reason for asking such a question is that if I planned on a 275/30-20, the overall diameter of the tire would increase about 1.1 inches or so (from a 19). I am not worried about "tuck," because I know a 255/265 would fit under the top of the wheel well, rather more concerned with the overall wheel diameter and if it would rub anywhere on the liner (if the well was narrower than an M). I hope that makes sense.

Ah gotcha, you shouldn't have any problems with rubbing on the fender liner. Like I said the main concern is with the tire hitting the fender, which will need a pretty thin tire with any typical offset.

Gotcha. Thanks. Still deciding if I want to go 18 and fat rubber or 20s and stretch a little bit, haha.
