YVR - pre LCI headlight amber CF wrap blackout fest

The title sounds more like a sausage fest but I was wondering if anyone is interested of spending a day removing their pre-LCI headlights, bake them, wrap the amber reflector in CF and blackout the interior of the headlight. I think that if we put our brains together along with some DIY found on this forum we can get this mod done for cheap.... Anyone interested ?

We are not talking about the bumper reflector of the LCI cars

There are DIY's and tons of videos on YouTube ... From what I've seen, the biggest mistakes are too high temperatures when baking and laying the headlight on the transparent side causing it to collapse on itself from it's own weight. It's pretty straight FW, I'll try first and see what happens...

Ok. I'll take a look at the YT vids. I would at least consider it seriously enough to come over and watch you melt yours

i think its a pretty straight forward process. i did it on my previous car (jetta 4) since i knew if i messed it up, i can buy a new pair for like $300. this car, on the other hand, is a little bit more pricey. just make sure that you seal them really well afterwards so you dont get any condensation in there when it rains.

By factory my headlight fogs like a 15 years old seeing a pair of tits for the first time so I have nothing to lose

The amber is what I dislike the most about pre-lci but I am very hesitant to do this. There is no way we can seal it as good as it came from the factory, I would imagine it was done is some kind of negative pressure environment to ensure there wasn't any air trapped inside once sealed.

On that note, I'm getting tint done in a couple weeks and got quoted $60 to cover up the amber. I'll be going that route. I'm nervous of it looking cheesy but hopefully it ties in nicely with the matte black grille, the tinted windows, and some bmw shadowline matte black trim.

dd330i - the amber is the ONLY thing I dislike about the pre-LCI. When we see pics of the euro headlights I love it. I've had 3 headlights already so I am leery as well.

Can you pls post pics of your tints when you get them done? I'll subscribe to this thread now.

I just called the tint shop to schedule my app't. I wanted to confirm they are going to do my amber headlights as we had discussed through email but now they are saying I would have to provide material/template. I prefer a professional installation, not sure what I'm going to do now.

Does anyone know where I can buy sone CF material for wrapping the amber? Also, what glue to use when sealing back the headlight? Please and thank you...

what do you guys think of the amber cover from bimmian, I also hate the amber on my pre LCI and was thinking about ordering this. I have seen some pictures of vinyl covers but they looked cheap.

$172? I love the way they explain/justify their cost in the description. Might be worth it tho if gets rid of the orange. I'll look around for some more pics.
