New DSC off indicator
The dealer had to reprogram my car since I was having mirror issues similar to the one in this thread...
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=230475 Anyhows, I noticed in another thread on this forum the new DSC off indictor. I happen to hold it down and this is what I get.... Reason for reprogramming was due to the mirrors automatically tilting out of their original position when I unlocked the car. I retro fitted LCI tails and had the car coded. Tech said it could be that the car's FRM module got screwed up because of the coding (I surely hope not) The reprogramming made me loose all my coding... Does anyone know anymore about this new program?

Yes, I just got the car re-flashed with a new update from BMW and this is indeed an icon I get when turning DSC fully off. I also noticed another change. The warning text on top of the iDrive display (if the car is equipped with one) that shows up whe you are low on gas, DSC is off, etc is now smaller but more refined/higher res.
Also, when engaging DTC (press of DTC button, NOT holding it), I used to get a warning similar to "DTC is off, DSC limited". I don't get that anymore. |

There is a theory Vishnu mentioned a couple of days ago that the new BMW software uses different shifting logic and is wreaking havoc with post-shift timing recovery on the procede. Certainly seems that way to me. |

Ilma, can you elaborate more on the latest BMW software in conjunction with PROcede. Does it throw error codes, go in to limp mode, etc etc? Thanks.

It just seems to not recover back to full timing on my 3rd to 4th gear upshift. At the end of 3rd I have timing advance of around 11-12 degrees by 6500 rpm. Normally, during a 6AT upshift, the timing drops to zero in between gears and then recovers back to 7-10 degrees of advance (depending on your octane) once the next gear is engaged. On the new BMW software, the timing just flatlines to zero after the gear change. Not good for power, but at least it's not a 7 degree timing dip due to knock! I don't know if Vishnu is working on a fix or not. Perhaps as more and more people get updated to the latest BMW software it will become more of an issue......but right now there only seems to be a handful of people experiencing this. This makes me suspect there is a newer version of BMW software released recently and if you get the sliding car icon on your dash when you turn DSC off you probably have it! BTW....this has nothing to do with the DIC maps. I am running a 1-22 non DIC map right now and the behaviour is the same. Other than that, the car still feels great. .....Well up until 4th gear that is. Last edited by Ilma; 05-08-2011 at 01:23 PM.. |
