Crazy Speed Trap I Saw While Driving Home
So, driving on 280 North from San Mateo to San Francisco...usually there are one or two cops along the freeway near San Mateo/Milbrae...but wow todays trap was crazy. I saw about 9 or 10 cop cars positioned with their radars ready to pop some speeders.... Freaken...I actually saw them rev off one by one to catch them and get them to stop on an exit ramp (hehe i followed). So it was like....Car...Cop....Car...Cop...Car...Cop..etc. This was some crazzzzzzzzy shiiet!!!

No Quotas for the CHP, this is a crack down on one of the fastest average speed freeways in California. They have been trying to slow 280 down for a decade. Run a solid radar/laser detector and listen to the radio and you can head off most of these traps. They only last a few hours anyway.

Actually as I understand it they have to spend a specific amount of time to spend on traffic enforcement and there is a average daily about of violation officers write when doing this. They generally like to keep that number at or above the average. Kind of a quota I guess. Anyway thats just what I heard when I was on a ride along some years back.

When I lived near San Diego they'd do this sort of thing on Interstate 8 every now and then. At one point, the news announced that the CHP would ticket for 1 MPH over the limit.

Watch out for ghetto birds. I was on the 880 on my way to SJ and they had a ghetto bird radio in chp to pull people over. I guess it wasnt a fluke...

Not in Vancouver, we are harsh under-police here, and whatever police force that we have, they are usually sitting at tim hortons drinking coffee or eating doughnuts
