Strange Noise (E90 335)
I noticed a strange noise this morning with my car. My car is an E90 335 manual. Let me know if anyone else has heard this.
If you take off in 1st gear slowly with normal clutch release but very light throttle input, do hear a repetitive knocking sound coming from somewhere underneath or just to the right of the engine. Its not the engine bogging down or not enough gas, its a normal takeoff just very slowly. You will need to have the stereo turned off as its not that loud but a strange noise none the less. I only ask because it might be normal, kinda like when you power down the car without the clutch and get that strange noise. Thought I would throw it out to the E90 world |

I find that if you release the clutch when the revs are very low, you may get a little rattle just like when shutting off the engine. This may be what you're describing.

correct me if i'm wrong but this sounds like its because you're in gear and not giving enough gas thus resulting in low rpms and is close to something called stalling??? this would happen to all manual cars when you dont give it gas and you are releasing the clutch while in gear. You have a beast under the hood what you are doing giving "very little throttle input"????

Hmm...I noticed a faint rattle today at idle when the gear shifter is in neutral when the clutch is released. It starts when I'm releasing the clutch about the same spot as the friction point. And it goes away when depress the clutch. Does this sound familiar?
