Gearknob covered by warranty?

I purchased a 2007 E93 330D manual 3 weeks ago, and the leather around the gearknob is starting to come away.

this should be covered by my BMW warranty right?

Thanks in advance.

If you're lucky - at 4 years old it might be argued that it's wear and tear.

Prob depends on how many miles the car has done?

If lots then as Xenon says, wear and tear will come into play. If it's a very low mileage car and the rest is immaculate and showing no signs wear, then you might get away with it.

Treat yourself to a nice new BMW Performance one instead?

39,000 miles, I'd say that was not enough to justice it being wear and tear.

i got my 335d at 2 1/2 years old.............. and the top of the Auto knob was scratched/bubbling

I went to the dealers to order and prepared to PAY for one - and the parts lad said nip thru and ask service - you might got one under warranty.

10 mins later - it was all done and fitted Free Of Charge

................. but after 4 years i think you're being VERY optimistic.......!!

Not a BMW, but on my last car VW swapped the gear knob wthout blinking at 45K / just under three years on a Passat.

You should be safe as long as you ar in warranty.

I think you would have been OK under the original 3-year warranty, but you will be hard pushed under the AUC warranty that it seems you have unless perhaps you have onlty had the car a few weeks.

They won't cover it, as its a piece of 'trim'. Apparently.

Not a good start to my first BMW ownership.
