Inifiniti G37 coupe owner, possible move to 335i
Just drove used 330 sedan, that was my first BMW ride and I am very impressed how sporty this sedan is. Now I am thinking of changing my current G37x coupe to 335i coupe and only thing which stops me is reliability issues posted by former bmw owners on Infiniti forums. Is it really so bad with BMW this days with quality? I could admit that Infiniti is extremely reliable and issues are normally happening very seldom.
I love 335 coupe look and performance facts, however I don't like to sleep in dealership with issues |

I went from a g35 coupe to a 08 335i e93 and couldn't be happier. yea the 335i's have known problems. hpfp, waste gate rattling, etc. But there covered under warranty
Just make sure if your buying a used 335i , to purchase extended warranty. If ure buying new then your all set

MBs, Audis, BMW.....all have their share of problems. 335 has several well known issues and you need CPO warranty if you wanna buy one used. 335 is probably a bit below usual German reliability.....which is not that great to begin with.
I test drove G37S with my wife and we both thought it sucked and I bought 335i coupe. Was very happy with purchase even though the car has been in shop for a week getting new turbos at 40k miles. Now I have S2000, also very happy. |

Reliablity isnt like they say it is. For every person with problems there are many that are going on without any issues.
I say do it. You would not regret it one bit. If anything try and get the 08 and up models because some of the 07s did not have an oil cooler.

Two things, no X and no 328. I like twin turbo and RWD/Stick, so 335i. Otherwise I am ready to get one soon, new.

Would it depend on final assembly place? Are they all made in Germany (335i)?

not digging on 328s, just saying, the guy is overstating the issue. mine has been in for the occasional service. fortunately, when you have a bmw, service means you get a free brand new loaded loaner car to drive for a day or two. i dont really lose time. i just get an extended test drive of something fun. last time i got a loaded 535 for two days while they made my steering perfect (wasnt a real issue, but i had a click bugging me). |

HPFP will be your most common issue. With that said, I have had my car and it has gone in twice over 4 years to have the pump and injectors replaced. If reliability is a huge factor...I would say stick with your G37.

I been FBO+meth for the last 25K miles, just hit 60K and has never run better. Hope I didn't jinx myself. I have only been in twice, once for HPFP and the other for misfires due to injectors. Covered by warranty and had a 335i loaner, I counldn't complain.

Granted its been a short time period but I've had my car for 10k miles now and 6 months. I commute 60 miles minimum daily for work in my 335i and the worst issue I've had with my car is the hood sensor went bad and said the hood was open when it wasn't and I was driving as well as always getting a warning that my windshield wiper fluid is low but thats because I use it a lot for bugs.
Other than that, my warranty will be up in 5k miles or so and I'm not getting the extended because I've seen the service history of the car and it's been solid. Some people have issues with their 335.. I do not thus far. *knocks on wood*

don the 335i's sometimes have problems with the turbos after so many miles, say 75,000? this is just a rumor i have heard other BMW owners, and I myself have a 328, and am looking at a used 335, so I am curious

Only for 2 years then you're screwed. I wanted to keep this car for more than 2 years, but I don't think I want to own it outside warranty & I'm not big on spending thousands on extended warranties when I can just that $ as a down payment on a new car.

You looking for a new BMW 335i or a used one?
As long as you have a warranty ... HPFP is taken care of $$ wise. You should be able to get a loaner car while your car is being serviced. Some people have gone through 3-4 - it's a roll of the dice. Very little problems reported with the N55. A few reports of HPFP failures months back but nothing since.
