Its got the typical 335 VANOS, HPFP and fuel injector issues.
The good news is that all the work's been done. The bad news: why have they had to replace the fuel pump twice? Was it at the same dealership? Why didn't they get it right the first time? |

the fuel pumps haven't been redesigned to correct the flaw - they just keep replacing defective ones with new defectives ones. Not surprised that it has failed more than once.....

Then the OP needs to decide if he wants the fun factor of the 335 and the risk of these problems in the future. |

My 5 cents, look for 2007 335i. It appears that mid to late 2006 build date has a lot fewer issues with fuel injection. If this car is thE one you like, it is still under warranty so unless you live 200 km away from dealer or planning heavy mods, who cares.
But you can drive a hard bargain, for instance don't bargain for money, but rather set of new brakes that you will need in next 10k, new tires and additional snow tire package. Dealer lease return worth about $30k +/- $2k + 2k warranty. Last edited by Bcruskie; 06-20-2011 at 08:52 AM.. |

Fuel pump replacement isn't such of a big deal with the 335's, iv gotten mine replaced 5 times now, and after the second replacement it stopped surprising me. Op i think you should go ahead and make the purchase, you will be very happy, the fuel pumps are covered until 200k so you shouldn't have a problem.
AZ-ZEIT ALT,NICHT VERWNDEN i am also curious with this service, never seen it before, what is it? |

Probably didn't fail twice. The second replacement with injector work would most likely be the recall, where everyone's pump got replaced, failing or not.

Twice isn't too bad to be honest. I think the majority of us here have had it replaced at least twice already...
Besides, HPFP is under warranty for 10 years now. The latest recall was supposed to have fixed it though (so far so good for me). |

They have a recall on the High Pressure Fuel Pump....mine was replaced a couple months with their revised version. Didn't have any problems to begin with....but was replaced anyways.....and still don't have any problems.
