how to invest 10k? 20k?
how would you invest 10-20k to generate some kind of income? you can not add to your portfolio nor gamble nor illicit activity...
this is a side from a previous post in one of my threads...just curious as to some creative entrepreneurial concepts lurking here? sell a product or market a service? what kind of product? look into renting a storefront in a local strip mall and push baby clothes? dog sitter? vending business?? |

i love the hustle...i dont mean that in the "gully" sense... i mean in the 'art of the sale' sense...my family business allows me to sell some high ticket services to consumers in need. i love the business side of the service we provide and the appreciation we receive compounds the joy after the job is done...problem is i cant invest in my business. its the kind of business you can pour money into (advertising, expanding) and wouldnt get ahead. check the signature lol a friend of mine started a publishing company...he sold advertising space in golf journals. the book was 99% ads and 1% content. he called business's all around florida and arizona. had a phone room and paid dedicated sales guys 30 percent on whatever they sold. last month he grossed close to 35k. minus his salaries and overhead he made a decent amount of coin without ever leaving his desk. his start up costs were under 4500. he just used the money he was making to bankroll his upgrades (automated dial software, expanded distribution)...i even sold some ads myself and he paid me nicee...cold calling is a pain in the ass but if you compare the money to the time put in you could make some cash. in my city magazine there is a story about 2 ladies who bought an old truck and converted into a mobile cupcake store. they would tweet or update about where they would be and by the time they arrived on scene (strip malls, industrial office complexes, college campuses) there would be close to 20 people at each parking lot buying 3 dollar cupcakes... 10k isnt a lot of money....but banks only offer 1% return. i can save that by collecting quarters every wknd...i dont gamble...i dont know anything about stocks, muni bonds, short sells on margin or whatever the fack that means... just thinking out loud i guess...thats all |

So I have a question about your business.
Do you keep a stock of caskets or do you order them from the manufacturer as and when they are needed? Last year I came across an auction for 25+ Batesville Caskets, I was tempted but decided it would be too hard for me to move them quickly. That was probably something you could have made money on. They went as a lot and I think the average price was $500 each, a couple were damaged though. |

I cant tell if you're being serious or not, but think about it, with 10k, you can get well on your way to starting a business that doesn't require you to be there, is fairly inexpensive to run (Just have to pay for water and electricity), pays in cash, and is easy to maintain (Industrial laundry equipment is bulletproof)...Plus people always have clothes to wash.

You'll blow any profits on the truck rental and/or the gas. The only way to do this is if you're a mailman and have to make a mail delivery to MI on Mother's Day.

You live in Philly, buy a beat up painters van, put a grill and fridge in it, and drive around making Philly cheesesteaks to all the work sites.
After work, sell ice cream |

dont touch stocks OP, whatever you do. I suggest you talk to someone at a charles schwab or something similar.
You can't do much with 10k, I personally would park it in a bank until I got more and then think about consulting professional financial help.

You could do a lot with 10k actually. Invest in silver.... (I did this with my father a little over a year ago, with half that and we are already past doubling our money.)
