Current wheels (April 2007) says up 10% to $155,000 and due in Australia later half of this year.
Awesome car, especially with the "powerdome" bonnet. |

Yeah BMW has indicated to me that expect it to rise about 10%. Too much money by the time it's on road. It's now competing with the 997 in terms of price and market segement.

The price will probably be around 170k drive away, which is not 997 porsche territory as you can't get a 911 on the road for under 230k, so the m3 is still relatively a bargain, if you'd call it that.

Being 10% more in cost than the outgoing model is good for upholding resales for those that have a current M3 and lets not forget you are getting an extra 2 cylinders and a lot of extra "go".
If it was me with $170K in pocket and looking for a drivers car, it would be a hard choise but I'd think i'd go a second hand 911. |

Now, if the new M3 comes in at around 170-175k. I'd rather a low k example of a 997, or a 996 GT3 or 996TT. All are better cars than what the upcoming M will be, all have the ability have to exteneded warranty for up to ten years. Last edited by 1q2w3e4r; 04-06-2007 at 08:17 PM.. |

chill guys, a porsche is a porsche, a bmw is a bmw. people buy them for different reasons. we all happen to be bmw owners. thats the main thing here. as for the price of the m3, i'd pitch it below or on par with the rs4. i've read that the new m3 and the rs4 do in fact has the same power of 309kw.

Yeah thats how I understand it, I imagine it'll be a much better car than the RS4. However it's heavier than the outgoing M3 by 80 kilos or so, so the added power won't make it huge leaps and bounds faster unfortunantly.
Still the carbon roof and interior kit is pretty trick! I'd like to see the CSL wheels from the concept make it onto the production car as an option. |

I read that the weight of the new e92 M3 will be about 1655kg's - which makes it over 100kg's heavier than the e46. Oddly enough though the new V8 engine is actually meant to be about 10kg lighter than the previous inline 6.
