Small chips with rust.

I have several small paint chips on the hood and along wheel well that have a bit of rust in them. Got the car that way.

I don't want the rust to get any worse and become a bigger problem. I also don't want to just cover it up with sealant or touch up paint if that will just mask and not fix the still underlying rust. I'm guessing removing the rust and then using touch up then clearcoat and then sealant is best but I don't want to make the chip bigger or more unsightly in the act of trying to remove the rust.

Whats the best way to handle this?? They're very small chips - like the size of a medium pen head or a bit bigger.

Thanks for any feedback.

I recommend you taking it to a professional. I have not had to take my car in before but I have taken my mothers Mercedes Benz. She had a ton of chips on her hood that started to rust and I have taken paint chip kits and tried to repair but with no success. The key is to remove ALL rust before you can apply any sort of paint or even clear coat. The rust will keep eating through the paint unless you remove it completely.
