**** MAJOR SERVER ISSUES UGH!! *****

Sorry all, the server died on us again tonight and we had to restore the server from a backup made on sunday. As a result all posts and new members that came in between sunday and today (tuesday 1:00am) were lost.

This is extremly frustrating to us on the staff side and obviously all the users. Again we appologize because there were some great threads put up on monday and they are completly gone.!!

If you can repost your threads, that would be great, if not, no problem. My and J(wocky) are going to be chasing after this problem to see exactly what is going on.

As an aside, if any of our members are mysql experts and can lend any ideas or help that would also be great.

Note to new members registered Sunday/Monday: you'll have to re-make your account. Sorry.

Mark

Is the problem with MySQL or the Unix/Linux server? I'm not an 'expert' by any means, so I don't want to get in the way. Are you allowing adequate table growth and such? Memory allocation for queries can be another one that bites you (though usually doesn't crash the db). Best of luck! If I can help in any small way let me know.

Ps. Mark, the private messages you sent me aren't there either :-) I got the notification in my email though. Send them again! :-)

Thanks, and good luck

Maybe there is a bug in the site software - a well known VW forum for the Golf GTi had exactly the same issue, and I think uses the same forum software.

Luckily you guys are pros, the VW people had no backups and lost the whole lot!!

The forum should now be fully operational. If you come across any bugs / hiccups in the system, please let us know. Thanks for being patient and thanks for all the kind words.

P.S. if some photos in the photo forum are displaying oddly, clear the cache on your browser and it should then work fine.

This is still a great site, hope you guys can find the problem.

I'm sure you know this already but the Safari fix was lost with the posts.

Good luck.
