A Sign Of Hpfp Dying?

hey guys, i just had my car for a lil over a month and recently the car's been having some bad cold start ups..then the engine light came on when i was driving last night and the screen showed "engine malfunction, reduced power". but after i turned off my car and turned it back on, the car was back to normal. is this a sign of hpfp going bad? if so, am i able to take it to the dealership and just have them fix it even tho it's not showing the code anymore?

Yes, very likely. This is the first time happening to your '08 335i?

Do you know the part number of the current HPFP in the car? If you have the invoice you should be able to see it.. Hopefully it's not the latest 446 pump because that would suck, meaning that the new pump still fails.

Could be multiple things with the fueling system, but usually long cranks mean HPFP. The fuel pump is warrantied up to 120k. You shouldn't have any problems bringing it in, plus all of the information and codes are stored on your key FOB.

Long cranks = hpfp, choppy idle when cold = injectors

And you still bought the car? Huh? I would at least pick one without those symptoms prior to purchasing it.....

i can't find the part number but if they replace it then it would mean that the latest 446 pump would still be put in right?

So when was the last hpfp replacement?

The latest 446 pump became available starting from October 2010.

I had both after the recall on a hpfp where software fixed the long cranks with the old pump. They replaced two injectors and ran two back to back fuel system treatments, long cranks gone, idle smooth again.
