Question Injen Hydro Sheild on your CAI?

So we all kno that CAI filter sits pretty low by the front left wheel/fog light.

I want to know if anyone used the Injen Hydro Sheild on their filter (k&n or AFE).

I have a UR CAI with AFE filter.

I read up on the Hydro Sheild and suppose to block out 99% water and still 100% breathable.

Anyone had used this product? Dose it fit on Antibes filter other than Injen?

I've seen these before on other applications and I think they would be helpful on a "in fender CAI" like the Dinan, STETT or similar intakes for small amounts of water being present.

The problem is, that when the filter is in the fender/bumper area and you drive into a big enough puddle (read really Fing big) that "filter sock" is not going to stop water from getting up the intake tract IMO.

You'd be surprised at how little it takes. A hard, quick rain in Florida, with lots of standing water. There's been many people in Florida experience hydro lock even with a stock airbox.

a puddle that affects a stett or similar cold air intake would mess up a lot more of your car before affecting the intake... the exhaust will be submerged under water well before the intake... thus choking your motor. this is more for hondas and such cars that have the filter below the exhaust exit

not true....again, hydrolock has and does happen with stock airboxes on a variety of cars. It does not take much water to hydro lock a motor.

when you're entering a puddle the FRONT end of the car take the brunt of the water, not the exhaust.

I'm not talking about a flood issue where the whole car gets submerged, but when a moving car hits a large puddle.

good point, Thanks for the reply. Im going to buy it any ways just to protect the filter from dirt, dust and sand. I know alot of sand and little pebbles get in that area. When i install or uninstall my hid fogs, there are always sand down there. Ive also seen many CAI filters that are very dirty just being down there for 1000 miles. I never drive thorough puddles either way.

One correction! Dinan intake maintains the stock intake tract and adds a CAI extension. If you end up in a big puddle and completely submerge the CAI portion of the Dinan intake, you will NOT get any hydrolock because air, will simply be sucked in through the stock portion of the intake.

Yes, the Dinan design does make it a lot harder for and significant water to get into the engine.
