Vanguard + Secondary Cats

Hey guys, figured I'd post this up just in case you guys could help me out a little.

This question is about Vanguard in particular, but applies to all catless exhausts.

I am thinking about buying a Vanguard exhaust to be paired with my catless downpipes. Now I'm not worried about sound, but rather with smell.

I have a buddy who added secondary cats to his catless exhaust and it didn't affect sound at all but got rid of the terrible smell completely.

That is my goal too. So I was hoping to get some recommendations on what cats to go with and where to fit them on the vanguard exhaust so that they don't cause a rattle or any fitment problems.

Stole Frankie's panorama picture to show what it looks like installed. Where could we fit some cats without issues?

Power loss is pretty negligible, the fastest e9x's around are all running stock catbacks...

This would most likely introduce some rasp would it not?

I think we're both mis-understanding each other but...

The fastest e9x's around... all have secondary cats in place with catless downpipes... so I think adding a secondary cat in place onto the Vanguard system shouldn't rob much power at all, but the cats will help battle the nasty smell quite effectively.

As for the resonator, I was referring to the resonator delete on the vanguard exhaust, which would make it noticeably more raspy.

At that point I would just get mufflers, maybe you would like the perf exhaust?

Try the vanguard if the smell is bad, then just go to the same shop ur friend went to..

1....if you're worried about the smell of a catless exhaust, just don't get a catless system. Go for the axle back such as the PE or some other.....they will change the note of the exhaust as well.

Lol I think so! I have a 135 and the exhaust is a bit different then yours..I have 2 rear cats and a rear resonator right before the axle back..I cut off the rear cat and tried looking threw it in the light, but only saw a small little beam in it.the rule is on a turbo car is that ,the less back pressure the better te turbos breath and spool up.I put in 2 straight pipes and the car spooled faster and have zero rasp!! The sound is amazing and perfect IMO!I can only hear it wot ,but normal driving it's whisper quiet ..I build my car to be a sleeper, even going to change the rear badge to a 125 ..

I thought it would smell terrible and drone badly.

Instead it barely hums and I kinda like the smell. So I'll leave it just like it is for now

They don't add power, they were just being suggested as a way to combat the smell, since they rob negligible amounts of power.
