cut intercooler boost tube cost 900 dollars please help

so my intercooler boost tube was cut and bmw is telling me i need to purchase a whole new charge air induction trac 11657568239 for 389.01 then its about 3-4 hours of labor plus taxes comes up to 900 dollars

I really think this is rediculous if the tube is not cracked why do i have to purchase a whole new track bc of the factory seal

i ask because in looking at this thread

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91461

the part can be taken out and replaced the owner of the thread used a flat head screw driver on the bmw seal

im in maryland this is being fixed tomorrow any help would be awesome not to spend 900 dollars

Do the work yourself and by the part from tischer. You will save a bundle and the install is easy.

If you're just referring to that little piece, can't you put it back on and use a regular hose clamp on it?

Buy on Tischer. Find a nice local member to help install.

You'll find a lot of guys are willing to help install parts for a 6 pack of beer. Saves you a lot of money.

Since you are out of warranty, I would just get an aftermarket IC tubing kit from ebay for 100.00. $300 is a lot to pay for pipe, IMO.

no offense but if you can't do simple work like this you probably shouldn't own a car that's out of warranty, especially a bmw. i tell that to all of my friends looking at used cars. it sounds like it would be worth it to you to have a car with a warranty. no biggy, i know a lot of guys just don't have the time or the knowledge or the tools, but for them a car that is covered is the better investment. these types of issues add up over time

im not saying its bad to do your own work or pay someone else to do it but you do not know my financial situation so stick with what you know
Bro you obviously didn't read what I posted. Please re-read it. I'm saying unless you are willing to do this type of work yourself then you should get a car with a warranty. If you don't get a car with a warranty then prepared to do all of the work yourself or pay a ton in labor costs. So don't complain about what it costs if you choose the latter. You were about to pay bmw $600 in labor for something simple as pie. Waste of money in my opinion. I would do it myself and you should too. Otherwise, get a car with a warranty
