Running N54 Without Engine Cover?

Has anyone done this?

I like the sound of the injectors, and I live in a hot *dry* climate so I figured it would be okay if I just left the engine cover off for extra cooling and whatnot?

Just don't get water in the coil packs or you'll mis-fire....

WHY WHY WHY..do people insist on doing things like this? removing the firewall cowl now removing the engine cover n for what..sound/cooling?,,LOL.

There is a reason why these covers are there.not a good idea to remove em.you want sound get catless DPs, exhaust, BOV etc.etc...u want cooling get an FMIC, methanol, upgraded Oil cooler, upgraded radiator..etc etc

+2. The gain doesn't justify the risk.

why not if you know the risk.

you could argue the stock intake and all its parts are there for a reason...

They are.. but an intake is not the same, if you get water in the coils you will have made a costly mistake and for what?

Marginally better cooling.. if any...?

Not sure how you can put up with those loud ticking injectors (along with possible causing damage to the coils)? If sound is what you are after, just remove the cowling and screw the airfilter back on. If you do that, make sure the ECU box is sealed good and tight.
