what do u guys do to people who tailgate....i usally give the figer...but i heard alot of talk about these "rear fog lights"? what are they?

Some solutions to tailgaters:

1. switch lanes and let them pass (recommended)
2. speed up and refuse to let them pass (not recommended - never let anyone make you go faster than you're comfortable with, could be dangerous)
3. slow down to annoy them & let them get the hint that they're tailgating
4. blind them with rear fogs (tempting, haven't tried this lol)

Rear fog lights on the E90 are the red lights on the trunk lid. They are for use in fog or other weather related conditions where the visibility is reduced to a short distance, usually under 100 meters. Some people will use them for acts such as to "look cool", or scare tailgaters, etc. and then will cry on the forum when they get a ticket for improper use.

i'm affraid that if i get the rear fog lights and use them to blind a tailgater that i'll be shot. at this point in my life, if someone tailgates me i just move over and let them pass.

Ok, tailgaters are idiots.
So you have an idiot with 1.5+ metric tonnes of potential scrap metal behind you, waiting for Murphy's law to kick in and introduce you to your maker.
What do you do?

You get out of the way and let him past, that's what.

Fog lights, window washers, tapping the brakes, slowing down,... all serve to make a dangerous situation more dangerous.

Think of your safety first. Then, if you're really *THAT* pissed off, you can follow him and kick the shit out of him (or his car) whenever he gets to where he's going.

I love people who drive faster than me on the NJ Turnpike -- can't find them.. I don't want to keep all the (cop's) attention to myself..
If the guy is driving faster than me and there is nothing ahead of me then i let them pass -- if there is traffic and guy is tailgating me then that would piss me off -- i will either do nothing or slow down more...
another thing is that i never tailgate -- if someone is driving slow in the left lane and the right lane is empty then i just pass them from the right side without wasting anytime tailgating them.

This is perfect for the power rear sunshade. I have seen a video for a Mercedes where a person made a sign that said Fu** off. If someone is tailgating you hit the power rear sunshade button and the sign pops up.

yeah, doing all the other things to aggrevate the tailgater is just throwing more fuel to the fire, it gets them even MORE pissed off at you

This is what I will do after I learn how to do it at the performance center....

If someone would tailgate me, I would accelerate hard to put a fair amount of distance between me and the offender. At that point, I would do a 180 and flash my brights as I accelerate towards that MFer....see if he likes playing chicken as much as he likes tailgating.

Speaking from experience I agree 100%. I actually had that guy you describe who DID shoot at me about 5 years ago (and I didn't even flip him off before that). It was just north of Philly on I-95. Fortunately I was in a rental car and there was an exit ramp just as he did it. I hadn't planned to stop in Bucks County, but I'm glad that ramp was there. Gave me a chance to clean out my shorts too.

Sometimes people tailgate during traffic conditions in which case you cannot go any faster and you cannot move over to let them pass.

it's like u read my mind. I dont mean to bring this up again but after wat happened at Virginia Tech i dont think any of us here should piss anyone off on the streets.
