He has a 2005 325 manual tranmission, and is stuck in 4th gear? Any input

With the engine off, just yank it out of gear? Check the shifter mechanism from under the car.

Could be shifter linkage related.
Did it happen after a hard shift? Perhaps he blew the springs out of the clutch and now they're jammed. Still, should be able to pull it out of gear when it’s stopped.

I shattered a clutch before on a VW and it was stuck in 2nd gear. My friend has bent his shift linkage before and it would get stuck in gear all the time. Good luck with the fix.

There is a third pedal on the left called clutch. Tell him to press that and push the stick upwards.
