BMW M3d coming?
Well I didn't expect this but I guess it could theoretically happen. A BMW 550dXM and maybe a BMW M5d? So next up could be a BMW M3d? So much for diesel not being as good as gas.

I'd vote for an inline six triple turbo running on human fart tuned by M.

It wouldn't surprise me if they'd toss in an M3 diesel later on - and as a diesel driver, I would like to welcome it very much! ... but as another member here already pointed out, it could just as well become an M4 diesel Marlon

Well I am glad you are sincere but even if this thing gets produced, it won't see the light of day in North America.

BMW has said that a lot of things they're doing is in direct result of the competition. I'm sure they are looking to get more M customers that have gone to Audi due to not being able to get an AWD M3 in regions with snow. And if the M3/4 came at least in xDrive, BMW would gain a good chunk of of S5 and GT-R customers. I don't see why they wouldn't add a torque-y diesel to beat the competition in MPGs. This wouldn't take away from the RWD M3/4. And would cater to those that want the power and prestige of the M, without the need for a track car. |

* Yawn *
M- Diesel? It has been done before, nothing new. They will sound about the same. The appellation suggests a M-Sport variant, and certainly not a decent M-cars. Bastardization is the right description here. People are still 335dreaming big time if they still think that diesel is coming to North Americans. The failure of the 335deadonbirth sent a notice to all new comers to *forget it *. Obsolete. No diesel for 5-series or X3 either. BMW will invest in hybrids cars for North America before going the diesel route, which has proven to be a niche market for gadgets lovers. Limited appeal. And not everyone had a grandpa who was a farmer. |

Lol, to be honest with you, if I had to choose I would probably take the 35d if it came down just to fuel economy. A 6 cylinder engine is still a 6 cylinder engine unless the N20 proves to be a 4G63 type motor which I highly doubt.
