2012 SLK55

I'm hoping this will light a candle under BMW's collective arse and give us a Z4M.

I doubt they will - they'll say there's no reason because we have the 1M.

But the SLK is impressive for sure.

So explain to me why BMW can't make an fuel efficient na v8. Benz did it. Even if it does shut off half the engine.

Growl of a V8, Better Gas mileage and 10K cheaper than my Z..?? for an AMG!? BMW should take heed.

Correction it's the 350 that's 54K not the 55.

The Z4 is one expensive car. I would take a Cayman any day over a Z4. IMO.

Did a double take thinking it had a manual trans...
First angle I like but the second not so much. Front end looks nicely sloped then boxed in other pic. Interior is nice.

^^^^

The SLKs have always looked kind of short and stubby. But they're still fun little roadsters, and in the true sense of a real 'roadster.' The SL has always looked better proportioned with its longer body.

MB/AMG are making killer motors. Although I like the BMW IL6 and always will, Daimler is the better motor builder overall.

The pricing listed is the base price for the SLK350 not the AMG. My guess is it will be slightly higher than the Z4 35is.

I hate to admit it but the looks, at least this version, are starting to grow on me.

+1

My next car will be a Porsche 991 or an AMG if BMW is doing a tri-turbo engine on the future M3. Since the X5M / X6M, BMW didn't do any true ///M engines. Just a modified N54 and a modified N63.

AMG have done a great job with this N/A V8 even if the HP per liter isn't very amazing.

Definitely better than z4 in almost every department for me. Drove z4 3.0i the other day and all I could think about was "Is this really what you get for 50k?" Great looking but an extremely overpriced car.

Love the looks, interior is decades ahead of z4's spartan interior, better engine... Loving it.

Very nice car with what sounds like an awesome engine. in Germany the SLK 55 is € 72k while the Z4 35iS is 57k. Considering the C63 models are 72k too the SLK is actually a bit expensive, IMO.

Best regards,
south

Z4iS 57k? Not likely. Even with nothing added it's base is 62.5. More like 70K all said and done.., i know.

Compare to a cayman AMG SLK is just vulgar. The design looks great on a SLR or SLS but not so much on the SLK.

After the M comes either a MB or a 991. Still 3 years out though.
