recording engine sound on track
I'm trying to record engine sound in a E46 M3 during a track event. Windows are rolled down so
there is lots of wind noise & you can't hear anything. I'm gonna get a wind screen for the mic but what is the best place to put the mic to get some engine sound? thanks |

Is it not possible to put a small mic underneath the hood? Most intakes stuff are plastic...so I don't you will have any problem with temperature...at least I don't think anyway...

You dont really have to get a wind screen for the mic. A piece of blue painters tape over the mic will kill the wind noise for you. Oh and as far as mounting the mic. An external mic mounted somewhere in your engine bay is fine. Some other options you have are to mount it in the trunk so you can hear the exhaust note.
