Remember that this is on a highway which is a few lanes wide in some spots (from my recollection) and the speed limit only 100kph which is roughly 62mph. I can see him achieving that speed easily on that large section of blacktop.
I95 in parts of S. Florida is 5 lanes across in each direction for a good 10-15 miles and still the speed limit is only 65mph. I suspect that if speed limits were much higher where appropriate there would be less accidents and especially if the law would require slow drivers move to the right.

Terrible spot to be running flat out....but only because that area is always crawling with the popo. The "sheriffs"....our glorified traffic cops....are based out of Airdrie where this guy from Saskatoon was caught.

There are numerous country roads that are perfectly paved and you can literally see for kilometers with no one on them. Really easy to do top speed runs safely where you're putting no one else at risk.

He chose a stupid spot to push his car and will pay the price.

Do that in Norway and you will get over 2000USD ticket, loose your license for a looooong time and possible some more ^^

Canada does have some boring assed highways with pathetic speed limits. This is the highway from Detroit to Windsor, Ont. 100kph on this road is just stupid. That said, the bozo in the story was just as stupid for going that fast.
